Parenting after 35

Parenting peeves

- DS has started grabbing my ponytail when I carry him over my shoulder. It soaks up his drool/spit-up

- The punches to the chest are back (one of his hunger cues)

- He's started practicing the backstroke during bath time

Got any annoyances to share?

  • @Geeps2 .. YES!!! DS is constantly doing this. I have had to repeatedly scold him. It's driving me nuts. He's 6. DD is 2. The minute he sees her going for something..a toy..a certain snack.. Whatever it is.. He's trying to beat her to it. Not because he actually wants it but because he's trying to tick her off. It has been driving me insane!!

  • DD1 is so stubborn and loud especially when she's in her bed, be it night time sleep (talking, singing, yelling loudly before falling asleep and as soon as she wakes) and during attempted naps.

DD1 is really ritualistic and ocd about everything being JUST SO and I blame MH for encouraging it...

    Naps!!!
CAN'T COORDINATE THEIR NAPS NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRY! And why oh why must 3yolds hate naps with all their soul!!! I would PAY to be able to nap during the day...

My 3.5 yo DS does the exact same thing to her 2yo sister. Anything she picks up to play with he goes after and once he gets it he drops it to go after the next thing she's picked up. It's exhausting to try to get him not to take things from her and share his beloved toys.

DS is in a playing-with-poop phase. Every recommendation we've seen says to break them of this with a cold bath/shower. We did that last time and he screamed the whole time. Today I caught him starting to reach into his dirty diaper on the way to the changing table. I asked in a threatening way if he wanted a cold bath. He nodded his head and said "yes. Nice cold bath." Then he proceeded to talk about a "nice cold bath" for the next 2 hours.

DD is 2 months old and won't ever nap at the same time as the other kid. Ever. Even if it means missing each other by seconds.

    **siggy warning**

Glad to know I am not alone in my frustration.  My 3 year old torments my 1 year old.  There are days I just want to slap her.  I don't, but I'd like to.  I just keep repeating a million times it seems, WOULD YOU PLEASE JUST LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!  Kids!
