ftm pump question spectra s2

Leaning towards the Spectra s2 through insurance, but I read it's not great for big boobs. I'm a DD pre pregnancy. Anyone with larger Breasts have experience w this pump? Also, is it a big PITA that it doesn't have a battery? lastly, would you go with the s2 or the 9 from insurance? Thanks!!!

Re: ftm pump question spectra s2

  • I wanted the s2 but my insurance didn't cover it. My friend got it & loves it. She has implants & said her boobs have grown so that most stores don't carry her bra size any more. She says that the s2 is big & heavy & so that is probably why she doesn't travel with it- not the lack of batteries. She also has a pis & had to get bigger flanges for that.

I have the spectra s1 (the only difference I believe is that mine has a built in battery and the s2 doesn't). I personally love it. I bought it before returning the one we rented from the hospital and I preferred it more than the one from the hospital! I exclusively pumped with it for 3 weeks before finally getting LO to breastfeed successfully. My supply was increasing- I went from 30 oz a day to almost 50 oz before I stopped exclusively pumping. I traveled with mine and didn't find it to be a burden at all. The 24mm flanges that came with mine ended up being perfect for me, but you can order larger ones if needed. I have DD breasts and I didn't have any problems. I do recommend getting a good hands free pumping bra, though.
