swollen fingers

So my engagement ring that used to be a little big on me, is now super tight on me. and hurts.
Just wondering if anyone else has had to take their ring off yet?
I'm thinking about getting a nice chain and wearing it as a necklace. Or just putting it away for a little until my fingers arent swollen anymore.
But I hate thinking about my finger being naked.

Re: swollen fingers

  • My engagement/wedding rings still fit, I just take them off at night. But my friend opted for the necklace idea and it worked for her! If you're really not comfortable not wearing a ring, QALO sells the silicone ones for like $20. I got one to wear to work (I'm active duty and work on planes... when I'm not pregnant) and they're comfy.

  • i haven't been able to wear mine since around 24 weeks I think. My fingers are so swollen that they can't bend in the mornings. I was embarrassed for a while walking around with no ring on, but then I saw walmart had fake bridal sets for $8, so I've had that on... but then this morning even that was too tight.
  • Yeah I had to take mine off at 34 weeks. . So 2 weeks and I have had a naked finger I think my hubby is going to get me a cheap one at walmart just to use until baby comes. Its driving him crazy that I dont have a ring on
  • My building is so hot and humid all the time at work that my hands and feet swell every day. I finally abandonded my rings at 32 weeks and have them on a necklace.

  • I took mine off already. It's funny though because before I found out I was pregnant i resized it to be smaller...and now I can't wear it haha
  • I had to take off my ring when I was around 33 weeks. My fingers are some days swollen and some days normal. I'm 35 now, but I did wear it for my babyshower lol but by the middle of the day I had to take it off
  • I took my engagement and wedding rings off in early May. They were starting to get snug and I didn't want to risk having to get them cut off. Not doing the necklace as I didn't want to risk losing them. I bought a basic ring (it was less than $20) that just says 'I love you' to wear so my finger doesn't feel so naked. But I am using this as a chance to get my rings cleaned and inspected!

With my first pregnancy, I had to ditch my rings around 34 weeks. I opted for a fake ring until I could fit mine back on. So far with this pregnancy, 36 weeks, I haven't had to take them off yet as long as I take them off overnight and an hour into the morning.
  • I took mine off at about 32 weeks.  I've been wearing a replacement ring.
  • I took my engagement ring off about a month ago because I noticed my hands started swelling to the point where they wouldn't budge, so when it was still cooler, I got an ice pack and worked it off. I had my wedding band on until last week (my thoughts were that if they had to cut one off, the band would be way easier to repair), but with the weather the way it is and my swelling just getting worse, I managed to get it off and have kept them both on a necklace ever since. I have a much larger ring that I'm wearing as a replacement for now, but it still feels/looks weird. I'm just hoping all this swelling will go down and I can get them back on after baby is born!
  • I took my engagement ring off at 35 weeks. It originally had a ring guard that had to be taken off at 28 weeks due to swelling. I have been wearing it now as a lovely pinky ring lol

I haven't been able to wear my ring lately and I've been so upset. I wanted to wear my promise ring from when we were in college but I'm afraid I'll swell and have to get it cut. I'm just going to wait it out I guess.
  • I had to take mine off months ago. My fingers weren't bad every day, but I didn't want to risk having it get stuck and needing to be cut. I've been wearing them on a necklace. I have a cz and sterling ring I wear when I worked with elephants before I got pregnant (messy job) that was a half size larger than my regular set. But I can't even wear that anymore. I hate my naked hand and can't wait til I can wear my rings again!
  • 36 weeks in. I've noticed swelling so I just stopped wearing mine last week.
  • I took mine off today actually. I'm 36 and 3. I just had a cheapy ring that's about a half a size bigger that I put on to fill the void.
  • Mine has been off since last week (30 weeks).
