High-Risk Pregnancy

Small for gestational age?! Anyone?

Hello,
I am 35 weeks pregnant with my first. I've had a stressful pregnancy with lots of ups and downs.
I found out probably half way through my pregnancy that our little man was small for gestational age.
Things haven't gotten any better along the way. I've had an amnio done to rule out a few possibilities.
Everything with that came back okay.
The doctors are saying that he is less than the 5th percentile.
As of Monday, he is weighing in at 3 pounds 9 ounces.

I've been a nervous mess for months now and just wish I could do something.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation?

  • my daughter was born with intrauterine growth restriction.  usually they deliver when under 5th percentile.  has your doctor discussed this at all?  are you doing frequent NSTs?

  • They are trying to get me to 37 weeks. I have an ultrasound every Monday and NST's every Thursday.

My blood pressure was high yesterday so I was sent to be monitored and checked for preeclampsia. Which everything came back okay.

I guess it's just going to be a waiting game. :/
  • Our little one has a small abdomen and I also have GD. So I've been taking in all the protein I can. Although there is no direct link between mom eating more and baby growing faster, my MFM recommended it saying that it wouldn't hurt. Her abdomen has actually gone from 7 to 11% in two weeks. It's frustrating and nerve wracking and scary. All we can do it wait. This is my third child and first to have any complications. Just know you aren't doing anything wrong and you'll see your little one soon. FXFY
