Amazon mom vs Target subscription service

does anyone have experience with target subscription service for diapers? It looks like you get 20% off and it's free shipping over $25 and if you have the red card that's a total of 25% off. Also the Starting prices at target seem to be lower than the ones on Amazon. It seems like Target is a no brainier but maybe I'm missing something???

Re: Amazon mom vs Target subscription service

  • Target 20% off, I believe, is a one-time discount for new subscription orders, and won't apply for subsequent shipments. Normally, subscriptions are only 5% extra savings (and Target has notoriously not applied the Red Card 5% discount when the subscription is shipped/charged, so keep a close eye on it). You'll need to calculate the per diaper cost to determine if final shipped cost is better (not sure if they both sell the exact same count packs).

  • With Amazon Mom, I get a discount of 10% on some items, plus an additional 5% for putting it on subscription. If I have 5 or more items on subscription, that 5% jumps up to 15%. Plus, I get the other benefits of Amazon Prime (better shipping options, free ebooks, streaming music and video, etc.)

Not very familiar with Target subscriptions, so I can't compare, really.

  • DH researched it a lot and we are going with Amazon Mom. We're already Prime customers so it is not an extra expense for us to sign up. I also think that there's a higher variety of supplies available with the subscription service through Amazon than Target offers. The discounts really do add up and you get the bonus of free shipping and the other Prime benefits that PP mentioned. We've had Prime for years and have never had an issue with Amazon...we've never had an issue with an order and their customer service is always spot on.

I was also under the understanding that Target only gave you the 20% off the first time, and that subsequent orders were only 5% off (going back and looking at their website again I still think that is correct). Like PP said, they are notoriously awful at applying your Red Card discounts, so it is likely that you would really need to stay on top of it. Basically, you'd get a 10% discount on your regular subscription materials from Target; the 25% will only apply to your first order.

  • Okay so the Target subscription is only 5% ongoing. And trying to stay on top of the 5% with red card is waaaaaay too much hassle.

I was surprised that the starting prices were less at Target.

    Thanks ladies!
