2nd Trimester

Appetite

I'm currently at 15 weeks with baby number 3 but I'm finding myself with no appetite whatsoever. Any of you going thru this? I pretty much have to force myself to eat and tend to skip breakfast because it makes me nauseous. I try my best to eat full meals because I do weight train/run everyday and therefore have to have enough strength, but I'm just finding the balance pretty hard. My husband has asked me more than once how many times I've eaten throughout the day because I need to be reminded at times.

Re: Appetite

  • I am now 18 w/4 days, but when I was in the 10-16 week range, eating was so difficult, and I very rarely had an appetite, and also found almost all foods boring. Oh how that will quickly change! I am ravenous and feel like I eat to explosion these days, constantly telling my hubs 'I can't stop eating!'

I think food issues will come and go, but when you can eat, make sure it's something with protein. That is so essential for baby growth, and helps calm down any nausea you may be feeling.

My hubs too would check in on my eating, calling me throughout the day from work just to see what my meals had been like, and would even prepare me a plate and tell me to sit and eat it all, even if it took me an hour. I'm so thankful for his caring support. It sure helps to have someone keeping you on track!

  • Absolutely with you! I'm 17 weeks and eatting is an absolute chore. One way that kind of helps is if I go to the grocery store and get what I'm craving at that very moment sometimes it's easier to eat. I eat alot of fruit because it's light!
  • The first trimester I had zero appetite after about five or six, so I relied pretty heavily on Instant Breakfast.
