Yes, unless you've been told other wise is safe, soemtimes it sucks and sometimes it's amazing but it's generally safe.

Safe and very enjoyable (at least so far;) ) the baby is cushioned pretty well up there and you aren't going to hurt it.

Just wanted to add that while what pp said is true it may cause some spotting which is typically considered normal.
