Patent Urachus in newborn

My baby had her one month appointment on Wednesday. I asked the doctor to look at her belly button because it still hasnt dried up and her umbilical cord had fallen off when she was a week old. So her doctor figured she had a granuloma but it was leaking fluid so he sent us for an ultrasound yesterday. It turns out that her bladder is still connected to her belly button and it's been leaking out urine. So now we have to call to get more tests and schedule her to have surgery to close it off. Has anyone else been through this and can help me understand what to expect? Also, is there any questions I should ask the doctor when I meet with him again?
