Dilated!

I'm 36 weeks and as of last Monday I was 2 1/2 centimeters dilated. I'm due July 3rd and I was high risk (I needed weekly progesterone shots due to a previous pre-term birth and a LEEP procedure). The doctor said I could still go 2 more weeks dilated at 2 1/2 but she doesn't think so because of my situation. Anyone else dilating yet?

Unfortunately the dilation doesn't indicate how soon you will go into labor. I've known lots of women who were dilated at a 3 or a 4 for as long as a month.

Agree with PP it means nothing. I say at 3cm with # 1 for over a month still had to be induced.

As for this pregnancy I'm refusing any checks bc they mean nothing.

I'm 36 weeks pregnant with twin boys and was 4cm dilated at my last appt (last week). I have been on progestrone suppositories and modified bedrest for the last 5 weeks b/c @ 31 weeks my cervix had shortened to 1.6. I know dilation doesn't indicate when labor will start but I'm hopeful it will start soon because these boys are killing me!

I got steroid shots at 31 weeks and the boys are measuring big, which is why I'm not freaking out about being 4cm--but like I said--I hope I'm not one of those ppl who stay @ 4cm for a month lol

My doc doesn't give me a straight answer about how long until I go into labor--probably because she doesn't really know. I hope everything works out for you and my only advice, since we are basically in the same boat, is to rest, drink lots of water and make sure you have as much stuff ready as possible!

I was 3cm for a month and had to be induced. But labor was only 3 hours. So there's that.
