Crying - every 30 minutes

My little girl started this thing were she will nurse until she refuses to feed, I'll change her and she will fall asleep. When I put her in the bassinet she will sleep for about 30 minutes and then wake up screaming and crying. She usually wants to nurse again or will only sleep when I hold her on my chest. She has also been very gassy on the days she does this. She is 3 weeks old and just started this bahavior a couple days ago. Any suggestions?

  • Did you try swaddling her?

  • Yes, we put her in a tight swaddle and she just fights it. This bahavior is not an everyday thing. Normally when she is fussy I put her in a tight swaddle and walk around. That calms her right down. But it doesn't work when on the days she is crying every 30 minutes..
  • Our son does the same thing with bassinet, try swing instead.
  • It is the 3 week growth spurt. She is simply hungry.

  • Both my sons did this for naps. They won't sleep in bassinet, but would in the swing. Both would be fine at night.
Or it could be a growth spurt and she's still hungry.
It's a guessing game. And once you figure it out, she will change. ;)

  • My LO is doing this also. The only time I can get him to calm is to hold and 'snuggle' him. This is new for him and just started yesterday. Normally, he is a laid back baby! Ugh, good to know I'm not the only one dealing with this, as I, too, would like to know what changed. He is 5wks old.
  • The nurse in the hospital told me that babies cry and act as if they are hungry when they have a bellyache especially right after feeding so parents often make the mistake of feeding again. Try getting a pacifier

My daughter did that for a while, it's gas, look at your diet try not to have beans, and hold her so her tummy is on your thigh and her legs are hanging down and use 1 hand to support her neck and the other to pat her back from the bottom up, she might get a few burps or farts out of the way.

Another thing you can do is open her diaper, hold her knees up to her tummy press a little then move her knees against her tummy in circular motion or do the famous bicycle move.

If the massages don't work at first keep doing them cause eventually you'll learn how to do them and get results, they help my lil girl
