I'm about 8 weeks along and for the past 3-4 weeks I have really become sensitive to smells, especially cigarette smoke. I get so nauseated that I have to hold my breath and get out of that smell ASAP.
My boyfriend smokes.. This was an unplanned pregnancy and unfortunately we didn't know each other very long either (I had no idea how much he smoked until we spent almost every day together after I found out I was pregnant). I am SO disgusted to be around him because I always feel like I have the flu. He can shower, wash his hands, brush his teeth, and I still get nauseated from the smell of smoke. I could no longer kiss him!!!
He is SUPER offended and thinks I don't like him any more... When in reality, this really sucks for me to be sick all the time (I have shared this concern with him multiple times). I 've tried eating before I see him to ease the nausea, I've tried having him chew gum... I haven't tried hard candies yet which I probably should, but I'm highly convinced it won't help - I feel the same way at work when I'm around people who smell like an ash tray. I'm not going to force myself into a situation where I feel instantly nauseated.
Is anyone else having this problem?? I'm literally having relationship issues because he's so offended... He has almost given up on even having a romantic relationship with me because I told him I can't hang out for long periods of time. I don't want to put myself at risk or our baby with second hand smoke. I've asked him if he's thought about quitting... But he absolutely refuses... Am I going to be flu-sick with him the whole time I'm pregnant?!

this is such a lame thing to end a relationship over when we are having a baby.
Re: Can't stand the smell of my boyfriend...
Will I be affected by smells my entire pregnancy? That's my biggest question.
You won't be so sensitive for much longer.
