laying in bed all day

I was facing a bit of depression but I'm healing from it. I've been laying in bed all day. I get easily short of breath too I hate it! All dizzy and only when I lay in bed it helps. Sometimes I'm there all day. And then go to bed. I feel guilty but it takes Alot for me to get up and do stuff. I do clean and eat of course but I'm just so tired... Please help

Re: laying in bed all day

  • Being exhausted during the first trimester is absolutely normal! Your body is working harder at rest than it does while you're not pregnant and active. House work can wait! And if you can, sleep, sleep, sleep!! I try to nap every day and have been going to bed super early for the past few days. The exhaustion gets better during the second trimester.

If you are feeling depressed though, it is best that you get some help. Pregnancy can make your emotions run wild so make sure that you have someone to talk to and maybe someone to help you out!

Hope you feel better soon!! Emotionally and physically!

  • I'm so glad that I found this discussion! I'm a teacher, so this last week was my first week of summer break. I literally laid in bed almost all day every day. Not only am I exhausted, but I'm also starting to get naesous. House work is definitely on the back burner, but I do make myself do one productive thing each day. Hang in there, it can only get better and easier from here! :)
  • I feel exactly the same. I am a lawyer and a project coordinator. I work two jobs and am really finding it difficult to focus. My husband is incredibly supportive and he has been doing the cooking and cleaning but despite this Im so exhausted. My RCB levels are low ı wonder how much of an impact that has on the exhaustion. Have you had yours checked? I think the exhaustion contributes to the feeling of depression. Is it your first baby? I think people are less depressed in second baby because they have experienced what a good thing being a mother is.
I am not excited about the baby. Sometimes I wish it could all stop and I could go back to being just me. If you dont have anyone to talk to we are all here to help.
  • I actually just laid in bed all day today. My 2 year old did whatever she wanted all day. Of course, I fed her and went to the chiropractor but that's it. The nausea and exhaustion can leave at any moment! My first pregnancy, I would use ALL of my energy for the day teaching and have to nap at my desk before I got in the car to go home and crawl into bed for the night. I haven't had to that this time, but the exhaustion is constant. It does get better in the second trimester. I do remember that.

  • Going outside helps so much! If you can just muster up the energy to get out there it will seem worth it once you are - whether it's talking a walk or reading a book or magazine outside. So good for the spirit! I also had been nervous about working out since pregnant and that has made me a little depressed that I used to have these great workouts and now all I'm doing is walking on a treadmill, but today I downloaded some prenatal fitness workouts from iTunes. So hard to get myself to put it on, but doing it made me feel like myself again!
  • I've been in bed all day and it feels soooooooo good!!!!! I don't feel guilty at all!
  • I wish I could have laid in bed all day today! Today was my roughest day yet in terms of queasiness (no full blown nausea aka nothing coming back up yet, but MAN was I unhappy today) and I had to go take a 3+ hour certification test! Luckily it subsided for the bulk of the test, but I'm not ashamed to say that, other than the 4 hours it took to drive there and take the test, I've spent all day in bed. If you have things you NEED to do, get them done, otherwise, screw it, your body is busy making a life, let it rest :)

  • I've been unable to leave my bed for days, I've been so unwell. Went to the hospital and found out I have hyperemesis gravidarum and my thyroid function and blood pressure are all out of whack. So I guess my body just knows it needs rest. I wouldn't feel bad, if you're tired, I'd say there is a reason.
  • Today has even a stay in bed day for me. I woke up really nauseous, forced myself to eat and then went back to sleep for a few hours. I have zero energy to move today :(
  • I've been the same - unable to move I'm so exhausted. Kids have stayed in thier pajamas all day and our 1 year old has been fed etc but that's about it. Dirty dishes everywhere and washing to be done :( So exhausted - I wish the mess didn't bother me but it does :(
  • I've been on the couch all day today...and yesterday. I feel like I'm neglecting my son. I'm sooo lucky H is home this weekend to play with him and change diapers. I can't wait til this all day nausea is gone for good. I keep dry heaving and just feel like I could barf but never do.

@countrygirl1997: others gave some good advice...get outside and get some sunshine at least. I can understand not even being able to think about exercise though. Do what you can and otherwise rest. If your feeling depressed, keep talking about it. You'll find you're not alone. But it gets better :)
