But don't we deserve the medal too? I mean, every kid who plays soccer or person who runs a 5k gets a participation medal. Can't l&d give ones out that say "I grew a tiny human"? :P
If baby was measuring behind in fundal heighth than they would do an ultrasound but most of us if things are measuring correctly don't get the extra ultrasound. So I would never know if my fluid was low!

That's what I was wondering. I know that they will only give an ultrasound if something was off, didn't know if it was based on the fundal height measurement.
Funda height measurement varies, too. With DS, I was measuring several weeks behind so I had extra US and a trip to the fetal maternal specialist for nothing. He was 8lb at 39 weeks. This time, I'm measuring similar, but because of DS no one is worried. Whenever someone posts about measuring large or small, I try to remind them not to get worked up unless something comes up on an US. Those measurements are rough.
So even though it isn't Friday technically, I have a question. I am scheduled the 22 for a RCS. What happens if I just so happen to go into labor? All my doctor said was she'd perform the section if my bag ruptures, but I'm talking like waiting wise. Since I would have eaten the day, etc, what would I expect them to do? Do they pump my stomach or what??
@SammeMotley it depends on the anesthesia team..usually they try and wait 8 hours from the last meal at my hospital. Obviously that isn't always possible! But if you are in labor you would let your doctor know and they'll probably confirm that you are in labor and then get everything ready for your section. I've never heard of them pumping your stomach. Theoretically the risks are low of you aspirating food into your lungs (especially not being under general anesthesia) but they still take the precaution. I don't get the ruptured membranes part...she'll just let you wait it out in labor unless your water breaks? Until when? That is horrible. Again this is based on my hospital, which is large and has a specific OB anesthesia team so they're always ready, I am not sure what yours does!
TTC: 1/2014
BFP: 9/24
EDD: 6/8/2015
Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
@dancegurl1118 I meant all she specified for sure was she would perform the section if my water ruptured before 39 weeks. I didn't necessarily ask about contracting and she didn't say. All I know is this baby isn't coming out before 39 weeks unless I go into labor and I've technically never done that before. But I did get sick on the operating table with my last section which is why I asked. I'm just praying this baby comes before 39 weeks because I am so miserable!!
At my hospital it goes on pain and dilatation. If your even 1 cm and your in agony they will csection you. Why wait ? Waiting til your water breaks seems mean!!!! Also never pumped anyone's stomach
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't worry too much if you eaten for a cs unless your fully under. Even if you get sick during the operation your breathing on your own so it wouldn't get in your lungs. ??? Maybe, Idk I'm not a nurse or anything.
I had the GBS test done last Monday. I had my weekly appointment today and Dr said I tested positive. I'm scared to think something is going to happen to my baby if I don't get to the hospital in time to get the antibiotics. I'm just freaking out ever since she told me I was positive. What if the baby doesn't get the infection during labor, but develops it in the future... I've been reading all the side effects if we don't receive the antibiotics... Should I worry? :-S :-<
@mghershkowitz your baby will have labs drawn to check for infection if you do not recieve the 2 doses. No worries!!!!
That makes me even more sad! Is it a heel stick or venipuncture...bc that's the saddest thing ever to have to draw labs on a newborn. I hate it. I hope I get my 2 doses.
It does suck but it sucks worse if your baby has GBS and can decline within a matter of hours. I hate drawing babies when lab can't obtain the sample. It breaks my heart so I get what your saying. We do venipuncture for blood cultures as it HAS to be that way and we can get a heelstick for anything simple CBC with diff. @jesshrou
so. question for the nurses on this app/site, (i dont remember your identities to tag you directly) how possible is it to get a hernia during pregnancy? and how do you check for that?
Is it normal to not experience bh contractions? Never got them with my first and none this time around either.
I knew I was having them since at least my anatomy scan because the tech pointed one out as it was happening on the screen. But, I haven't been aware of *feeling them* at all until about two, maybe 3 weeks ago. Even then, 2 weeks ago I was like - I think that was a BH. It wasn't until after my last cervical check when things got all riled up that I knew for sure they were BH. I may have been mistaking them for baby movements at some times, too
@JessHeppell umbilical hernias are common. Usually I can see them on moms AFTER delivery. Ask your doc/nurse to assess then. Of course you can get a hernia other places, groin etc.....
@klkonwi yeah the pain is like under the bump by my virginia. SO had one in pretty much the same spot. i just know that at random times it hurts a lot. not sure if its a hernia or something else. ill definitely ask about it at my next appointment though.
I know it's not Friday but I have a question. The answer may seem obvious but thought I'd ask anyway. I've really been wanting to go swimming, it helps me relax. But I've been using hydrocortisone cream for the irritation on my stomach. So I'm guessing the chemicals in the chlorine would only irritate things more and that it's probably better if I don't go swimming right? I would be wearing a shirt over my bathing suit and wouldn't directly be exposing my stomach, but the chemicals are still going to be getting on my skin through the shirt. The doctor told me to avoid hot water on my stomach, but I didn't think to ask about the pool.
@valeriemarie24 the chlorine in the pool may make your skin irritation worse. Especially if its a gym or public pool, as those tend to be more strongly chlorinated. I have sensitive skin and also can sometimes get eczema, going in the pool usually makes me *very* itchy. Of course, a shower immediately afterwards and a slathering of lotion usually solve that problem.
I'd still go swimming tho. Eff it. You can always reapply your cream.

Now I'm thinking about the pool... Hmmm :-?
I agree! Go for it and put your cream back on! Take me with yoooouuu! I love pregnant floating!
