i searched at the bottom of this board and didn't find anything, so hopefully this isn't a repeat. So on Monday I went to the doctor and my blood pressure was high. Which it has been slowly creeping up every appointment. Two weeks ago they sent me to l&d to be monitored and of course when I was there it was totally normal... Anyways so on Monday at my 34 week appointment my doc wanted to do the GBS which they normally do at 36 weeks. She said she had a feeling I wouldn't be pregnant much longer. So Tuesday I was feeling off got my BP checked again, and it was even higher than the day before. So they put me on bedrest. Womp womp! I'm just curious though, I have had several bp readings over 145/90-158/99 the last week and a half. Of course I was totally blind sided and didn't even ask the doctor what the plan was or why induction was like a sure thing! Even when she checked me and said I was dilated to a 1 and 80% and that it was good I had made some progress for when they induce. Say what? They never had said anything about induction at any other appointment. Of course I'll talk to her on Monday, but I'm curious, anyone else had several high bp's and perfect 24 hr urine and labs? What is your doctor recommending, or what are they currently having you do? I'm a ftm so just curious if anyone else is in the same boat. Obviously I know that every person/doc is different and I will ask my doc everything on Monday just wanted some input from someone who had experienced this.

Re: Gestational Hypertension
They usually induce by 37 weeks with high BP because blood pressure normally tends to increase anyway in the last few weeks of pregnancy which is bad if BP is already high. If it's too high you put yourself at risk of seizures and strokes so they will go ahead and induce to reduce that risk.
I'm seeing the doctor twice a week now. I do an NST on Tuesdays with my primary OB and then on Fridays I see a perinatologist for an ultrasound.
