I'd like to wait as long as possible, but since I occasionally work with chemo and other teratogens I think my secret will need to come out sooner than I hoped...
Well...I want to wait as long as possible...12 wks or more. Unfortunately, I work in medical field, where my OB just called me high risk yesterday and that I may have to do genetic testing (routine but needing genetic counselor) with blood taken AND sent thru my department at hospital. Ugh, I know there's HIPAA, but the older nosey women are gonna say something. Ugh, I'm so freaking out. And I know they can't label my forms or blood as Doe,Jane. I'm so nervous and I know my direct supervisor will have a 'Tude & he becomes resentful. Never knew this would be stressful. It's our first and we just want to enjoy this time. :-(
I'm sorry to hear that you're having that issue! Superiors should at the least, be understanding. And the best ones should celebrate with you! It's our first too, so I understand wanting to enjoy it all.
I will probably tell mine right before I go on maternity leave. I work from home so she will never see me anyway.
I would think waiting until you're having Braxton hicks might make it very difficult for your boss to find someone to take over your workload while you take 2 months off...or by right before did you mean start of 3rd trimester?
No I mean literally before I go out I may send her an email. No one takes over my "work load" so no need for her to know ahead of time. And HR deals with our leaves so unless it comes up naturally in conversation I have no plans of telling her.

I told my boss the monday after I found out. I was terrified having lost my previous pregnancy early and didn't want to need to explain in case something happened while at work. I'm glad I did. I only started working there in October and am still in my probationary period so I was very, very nervous! Luckily, she has been nothing but supportive.
Me, personally, I wouldn't share the news until I was 12 weeks, but your employer cannot legally fire you just because you are pregnant. There are several laws protecting that. I am currently jobless, looking soon, but I am not going to disclose the fact that I am pregnant at my interview. I'm not giving them any reason not to hire me. But I do not know when I will spill the beans. Probably when I show.
I'm going to tell my employer after my first appt at 10 weeks just to make sure everything is okay. I haven't had any nausea or morning sickness so I can hide it for 2 more weeks.

Thanks, Shaybe90 I'm hoping for a positive acceptance of the news. My closest bffs say not to worry. I'm just one of those people pleases I'm general, so I have to learn to NOT FEEL GUILTY. Have to Learn to say no to people in life haha. :-) staying positive everyday & thankful for our blessing!
I told him right away for several reasons. I work in a Kitchen, and the chef is in my back pocket all the time. I think he began to suspect around the same time I did because of my frequent bathroom trips. My previously mentioned potty breaks was another reason, we are very fast paced and a lot is expected out of me so I didn't want him to think I was screwing around. Also, I had a miscarriage in January and was in a lot of pain, physically and emotionally. He was extremely supportive, he even insisted I use 3 sick days. God forbid it happens again, I will need that support. I'm really blessed to work for such a great guy
Not until we're in the safe zone. I'm only 6 weeks and don't want to go through telling everyone about a loss if this isn't a sticky one. I didn't really show til 20 weeks with Did and 16 with DS, so I'm hoping for a few more months under the radar. The daily questions and inspections you get once people know are really annoying!
