Scared! SCH

Hello, this is my first pregnancy and I went to the doctor yesterday and was told I have SCH. I'm 6+6 today and saw my little peanut yesterday with a strong heartbeat. Has anyone had any SCH success stories? I'm really worried right now and hope everything will turn out to be ok.

Re: Scared! SCH

  • I have had two with my current pregnancy.I had one come out this pregnancy at 6+4 and another absorb between weeks 7 and 8, and have had two ultrasounds since with everything showing fine, fx. My sister had one with each of her pregnancies at six weeks and has two healthy kids. Sending you good vibes.

  • I had a medium sized one with my first pregnancy that resolved itself after rest and pelvic rest and I have a healthy 15 month old. I have another one this pregnancy that is medium sized as well. Same deal, pelvic rest and no lifting til it resolves. Just means more ultrasounds to watch it for me :)
  • Thank you ladies, this helps a lot!
  • I had one that was pretty bad actually. With this pregnancy. Just had my check up ultra sound yesterday and baby is measuring and growing perfect 8 weeks 4 days and it has almost completely resolved itself! Was on restrictions and no sex for 2 weeks but totally worth it!!
  • I think that may be what I have. Having lots of bleeding and big clots. I'm on bed rest now. Did you also have cramping? I had an ultrasound yesterday and baby looked good.
  • Hi girls, I was diagnosed with a SCH last week. Basically bleeding without pain when I peed scared me pretty well. I went in and they said "rest, drink lots of water, and total pelvic rest". I went in this week and the SCH is much smaller and I can go back to all except bedroom business :)
Most of these bleed out or are absorbed by the body. Take it as easy as you can and stay calm.
  • Im 10 weeks, and I went into my doctor a few days ago because I went from almost no spotting at all to a big gush. Terrified me!! I'm not sure if it is SCH but my doctor said I have a blood clot above my cervix and I need to "take it easy" for a couple weeks. It was fun to see my healthy baby jumping around on the US. He didn't call it SCH, but is this the same thing?
  • What is sch?

Due date 1/16/16 with our twins!
  • @keshakdavis it's a subchorionic hematoma. Basically a spot in there filled with blood. Almost like a bruise is on your leg or somewhere else, but when on the inside it takes up baby's space and can cause bleeding.
OP...my friend has had one with each pregnancy now and although it's nerve wracking for her they've both been resolved with no problems what so ever. Good luck!
  • I needed to see this post, Ladies. I was diagnosed with one at 6 weeks after a bleeding episode. Even though I know what it is, I still get concerned when I see blood. I'm a FTM so it freaks me out. I've been on pelvic rest for 3 weeks now and have another US this week. I'm really praying that it will resolve itself soon. Sending T&P to everyone else that has a SCH too. Thanks for the encouragement!

I was diagnosed with a SCH at 6w4d after having some bleeding. Bub is absolutely fine and the SCH resolved itself after a few weeks. Now nearly 10w and all is going well
  • I have sch also. Bleeding started mid wk 6. Doc has done 2 ultrasounds since and I go again tuesday which will be 10 wks. Still spotting but hoping it is smaller. Super nervous still and frustrated cause its taking some of the fun out of it due looming worst-case scenario.
  • Had one week 3-7 and it's almost gone! The bleeding was getting super inconvenient that's for sure
  • Is your dr worried??? I had one last pregnancy which caused spotting which after two losses was extremely upsetting. I was relieved it was just a SCH when they checked on ultrasound and my dr wasn't worried. She said they were common. It went away completely after a few weeks.

  • I was just diagnosed yesterday with SCH. I'm at 8w. Doc said its about 1 cm by 2 cm. I'm not sure if that's big, small or medium. It is very scary & super frustrating every time I go to the restroom and see blood when I wipe. This post's comments have made me feel better. Sending T&P to everyone!
  • Hi Ladies, thank you all for the responses! I'm 9+1 today and will be going back for my follow up ultrasound tomorrow. I haven't had any bleeding since I was diagnosed at 6+5 and no major cramping either. Hopefully everything is okay and I will see my little bean moving around and healthy! I'll follow up with an update!
  • I have one right now, and the two docs I saw for it were pretty unconcerned since it was minor. Most of these end up fine :) from what I read, it's only dangerous if it's in a bad place (like between the placenta and uterine wall). They even thought mine might be bad, but they rechecked the ultrasound and they think it's OK. From what I read, this condition only causes one more miscarriage per 100 women and only if it's a bad one in a poor position.
  • Hi ladies, hope everyone is doing well! Just wanted to give you all an update. I had my ultrasound on Friday and the baby is measuring right on track at 9+2 with a strong heart beat of 167bpm! The doctor also said that the SCH isn't of major concern anymore. There is still some blood, but it isn't affecting the baby and looks to be reabsorbing itself since I haven't bled or had any cramping. Such a relief! Here's a picture of my little bean!
  • I commented above about the SCH I had and it came back larger so my situation was the opposite unfortunately . They are crazy common ( I work ob / gyn) and women go through their pregnancy with no issues and deliver happy healthy babies ;) I was the 4% that the bleed causes a abruption of the placenta from the uterus. It's sad but makes me happy to look on here and see that you are doing well! Gives me hope that if this happens again it will be ok :)

I was diagnosed with sch today too. Woke up this morning to alot of blood. I miscarried the last time around this time and was so I was so scared I lost the baby. I'm 8w6d.
Got an ultrasound and baby is fine. It's even giving a thumbs up if you look closely. :) Heartbeat of 167! I'm in love!

They said to rest and drink plenty of water. The dr didn't look worried. So I'm taking another day off work just in case since my job is demanding. The dr said I didn't need to but my body said I needed it. I'm having cramps and I'm still bleeding with every wipe.

Hope everyone heals and their sch resolves!

Hi ladies, another quick update... I'm 13 weeks today and had my NT scan yesterday. The baby is growing with a healthy heart beat and the SCH has gone away. Good luck to everyone! Remember to stay positive!
