Baby reading book club???

Re: Baby reading book club???

  • I just started re-reading a book that might be good to add to the list. It's a multi- generation fairy tale story of mothers. It's beautiful and odd. Thought I'd throw it out there in case there was interest: The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender

  • I'm totally interested!
  • We can start with the list we have going and then add as we go along?
  • @mamafromero Im totally in! I read a book during my last pregnant called (Baby Bumps: The Almost, Barely, Not Quite True Story of Pregnancy, Bed Rest and One Batsh*t Crazy Family) by Amy Sprenger. It was hilarious. Ive also been Reading The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding if anyone is interested in that one too. Just a couple suggestions. :)

  • I'm in! Though I usually indulge in crime/suspense type books and go though 1-2 a week. I don't mind trying to branch out in your reading.
  • I would be game.

    Count me in
  • Didn't see this board until now! I'd love to join. Should be finished with my current book in a few days.

My dr recommended a book to me which i bought and was going to start next week. It's called Parenting from the Inside Out - anyone heard of it?

I can always read that alone if not in this book club. But yes, I'm a slow reader too but love it. Have a stack of to reads to get through but id love to try with this!
  • Belly Laughs won with 8 votes so I guess we should now set a time. It's 165 pages. What do you all think? Two weeks?

  • Great idea!! I'd love to join!
  • I think 2 weeks is good. It will give me something to do while I wait for my first appt. :)
  • Two weeks is good for me!
  • I'm game! 2 weeks to read Belly Laughs and then someone will start a thread and we'll discuss? Is that the name of the game?

  • I forgot too. I have just barely been getting by. Any reading on top right now seems impossible. I'm game to try again if it's still of interest.

Ooh I love book clubs & books (can you tell I'm a professor?) ;) just a heads up- first book on audible is free I believe. What if we set a deadline of August 1? We can do a check in in a couple weeks to see how it's going. Any of you that have already read it want to start coming up with discussion questions? :) yay! This beats my "The Everything Get Ready for Baby" book that I've been reading!
  • So I stole a couple questions from another BMB because I am in no way creative in the literary sense. But here are some questions we can think on before our discussion:

    -What was your favorite part?
-What parts did you relate to the most?
-Did any part make you fear or get nervous about anything new?
-Did the author's real-life vaccine beliefs affect your reading of this book? (not mentioned in book)
-Did you learn anything new from reading this?

If anyone has better/more questions to add, please feel free to do so!

  • So it's no longer on audible :(
  • I just ordered it on amazon for under $5. Not too bad, it's mostly shipping & some are selling for just a penny.

Bummer! Audible is my go to :(

  • We can start now if everyone's ready! Anyone want to add to the reading list and I can try and set up a poll to vote for which book to read first?

BTW I won't be able to share my audible account without giving out my amazon password so that's a no go. Sorry I can't share!

Check with your libraries! My library offers e-book and audio book checkouts through the app Overdrive.

  • Any other book suggestions?I'd love to read some light fiction about pregnancy. I tried to find some on Amazon and all that came up was, yknow, pregnancy prn. Had no idea there was even such a thing and couldn't find a way to tell amazon it wasn't my thing. Ew. So book lists would be very welcome!
  • I'm in! And I would love the ones that make you laugh!
  • So how many of you are actually reading Belly Laughs or read it? Mine is still on its way in snail mail thanks to a lazy Amazon seller.

I've read it before already and don't feel like reading it again. I think I'll wait until the next one.

  • Since it's no longer available on audible I'm out this round. I will jump back in when the next book comes up.
