Carrycot Instead of crib

I am a ftm and would love some input from other moms. My parents have given us a Stokke stroller with a Carrycot. We have a big wooden cot for the baby's room. But I would like to let baby sleep next to our bed for the first month. Would my stroller's carrycot suffice? Or do I need to buy/barrow a Moses basket? I am thinking if its safe for day time naps why not safe during the night?

    That's EXACTLY what we used for the first 3 months. The Stokke carry cot was our bassinet. It worked perfectly. We got ours used and had to look up the directions for taking it apart to wash. Since he slept in there, he spit up in there... A lot.
