I have had horrible itching the last 3weeks, had bloodwork done last week. My test results came back Tuesday and my bile acids and liver enzymes were high. I saw a high risk ob today and was diagnosed with Cholestasis of Pregnancy. I will be delivering at about 37 weeks, so either the end of July, or beginning of August. I encourage anyone who has intense itching to make sure you get tested, it could save your baby's life as risk of still birth drastically increases after 37 weeks with Cholestasis.

I'm going to talk to my doctor about this. I have horrible itching all the time and here recently the soles of my get have been horrible. I'm itching so bad right now I can't stand it. It's my whole body. Was yours?

Yes i Want to know too how your it itching is I just itch in certain parts of my arms and developed rashes in the itchy areas.

Me too! I had itching and a weird scaly rash on the back of my hands and wrists. Cleared up with some cream from the derm, but it took a week+. Now I have a different issue on my legs. I've been washing them in cold water daily with Aveeno Baby eczema wash and then treating with Aveeno Baby eczema lotion. It helps, but it is still crazy-making. Midwives haven't seen it yet, but they think it is allergic reaction based on description. Blergh.

I commented earlier. I had the rash and bumpy itchy skin. That was a yeast infection and went away in 2 weeks with cream. Now I seriously itch all over my body. It is awful. I was so miserable last night from scratching.

Mine started on my hands and feet, but within about 3 days was all over my body! I have never had a rash,just red marks from me scratching so much! No lotion or benadryl, etc helped at all. Another sign that I haven't had is upper right stomach area pain. If you have any question it might be, I encourage you to have them do bloodwork. They need to do a bile acid and liver enzyme test,but it takes about a week for the results for the bile acid test. On the bile acid test, anything over 10 is considered Cholestasis, mine was 56!

Wow! This sounds a lot like me so I am asking my doctor Tuesday.

I'm slightly freaking out after my OB tested my blood on Monday because I've had some seriously intense itching. Today I got a call from a MFM dr that I saw previously and they said my dr wants me to see them immediately. I'm so worried and anxious.

@dkizz82, unfortunately that's the way it is with the bile acid test. I had mine done on a Wednesday, and got them back on Tuesday the next week. There is a FB group called ICP/ Itchy Moms, or something like that. It has been a great resource for me getting answers and having support.

When did the itching start? I'm from the September board and I'm 25 weeks and starting to notice some itchiness - no rash - showing up at night

@runner636 my itching started at about 25 weeks. Uncontrollable itching, with no rash is the first sign of Cholestasis. I would call your ob. The test they need to do is a bile acid test and liver function test.

My levels came back at 4.6 so I'm good! Thanks for the info though.
