Deodorant?

okay, so apparently since I've gotten pregnant my deodorant really isn't working anymore. I've used the same one for years, even through my first pregnancy and now for some reason by the end of the night i disgust myself. I usually use dove. This happen to anyone else? Any suggestions on ones that work better? I can't stand myself and I showe every morning so bedtime is a little unpleasant

Re: Deodorant?

  • I have to use men's deodorant. I think I have Axe white label in the island scent right now.

  • I haven't heard of this, but it doesn't seem out of the ordinary for your body chemistry or sweat glands to change a bit with pregnancy.

i was actually wondering if anyone switched to a natural deodorant during pregnancy?
  • I switched to a natural ($14!!) deodorant. At first it cut it, but now it just doesn't and the smell of the actual deodorant reallllly grosses me out! I think I will give in and just use my Secret Vanilla one - never smelled a day with that baby! I'm 12 weeks now so I really just tried to hold out throughout the first trimester (my own paranoia). Never tried Tom's - wonder if anyone has had luck with that?

I use Tom's brand mens deodorant and it was awesome when I wasn't pregnant. As soon as I was preganant I learned that it didn't work for my new super horomone sweat lol I smelled so bad!

  • I have to use clinical.  If I use regular deodorant, I stink by noon.  I did get some natural deodorant in my 21 bundles box this month and I've been using that at night, but too scared it will not work during the day.
  • Degree works good for me

I use secret clinical.  It's a little more expensive but worth it!

I use natural deoderant. It smells soooo good. It doesnt have any chemicals in it. I get it from vitamin shoppe. I break out with regular deoderant. Spent years in agony because my parents knew nothing of natural deoderants. So once i grew up aNd did my own research i found them. Have used them for almost 20 years now. It seems to last longer than i remember secret lasting me.

Edited to add the name - lafes all natural deoderant stick i use the active one

@CMDD I did, I'm using LUSH's T'eo... I don't know if I can recommend it or not. The bar is really hard so I break it into little chunks before applying. I don't know if it's the switch to a natural deodorant or pregnancy hormones, but I don't really notice it working well.

  • I had to switch to a new deoderant for the same problem. After several fails, I use Certain Dri at night (per their instructions) and Secret Clinical in the mornings. So far, works like a charm!
  • I've never been a super stinky sweater, but the last couple mornings I almost didn't use my deodorant because the smell of it was so strong I was gagging just trying to get it on (curse you, super nose!!)

This is something I've been dealing with since day one. It's horrible and so uncomfortable. I tried several different brands natural and regular deodorant and nothing worked. One day I forgot to wear it for work and I didn't sweat or smell at all, it was crazy to me. So I completely stopped wearing any deodorant and wash my armpits with an antibacterial bar soap (safe guard) when I shower. I've been sweat and smelly free for 2 months now. :)
  • Yes, I had to switch deoderants because mine was not cutting it anymore. I was smelly.

I did.  I had been meaning to for a while just because of the aluminum in regular deodorant, so I made the switch when I found out I was pregnant.  I have never been super over sweaty, I can sometimes even skip a day wearing normal deodorant.  I've been happy with the Toms brand, other than the heinous "soothing calendula" scent of the actual deodorant (all smells are bothering me right now), I don't have any complaints!  I'm definitely ready to use this stick up and buy a new scent, maybe lavender or apricot!

omg DH doesnt use products either. he stopped wearing deodorant and his armpits stopped smelling!! so weird.
  • I'm grateful for this post. I didn't think I had particularly stinky sweat, until yesterday. I walked in from setting up the blow up pool, and my DH started at me and just said, ".....woah....". I got the hint. I'll be switching to one of these today.
  • @CMDD I switched to natural deodorant about 6 months ago. It's called "Pit Paste" and sold on Amazon on their website. It works awesome actually! But it's a deodorant and not antiperspirant - so if you sweat tons it may not be for you. I use the lavender scent and love it. It keeps me smelling nice even through day-long hikes and working out.

I'm so relieved to see that this post is not about the dangers of wearing deodorant while pregnant! I use secret clinical strength. I've never been sweatier smelly, but… I figure why start now? I love the Oh LaLa lavender scent and yes, they are expensive… But if you buy the solid it seems to last a bit longer. I was going to post this gif when I thought you were telling us not to wear deodorant.

I tried to make a joke about how horrible deodorant is while pregnant but I couldn't land it. I'm the worst.

  • Hahaha @BostonBaby1 you crack me up. I actually was thinking when I posted this "please no one tell me how horrible I am to my baby for using deodorant" lol I'm no all natural momma so no worries lol
  • I also use the clinical strength deodorant-- kind of switch it up between Dove and Secret. I like the plain cucumber/green tea Dove kind, and the smell is very light and doesn't bother me. It's the only thing that works or I'll smell like I don't bathe. I asked my doctor about it and he said it's fine to use in pregnancy. I tried switching to natural deodorant pre-pregnancy, but they all seem to lack the antiperspirant component so it was never fully effective IMO.

  • degree with motion sense, only thing I bother wearing, usually only in the summer, because I didn't have an issue in the winter. Now I need it daily or I stink
  • I use men's degree the dark blue container I think the scent is cool rush. I love it!
  • taysuntaysun member
I always use degree either women's or men's and I find its still working well
  • Love men's Old Spice Fiji scent. Strong enough for a pregnant lady, made for a man. Lol.

I switched to a natural deodorant that a friend makes. It has tea tree oil in it, so that's the main smell, although it's supposed to be vanilla as well. I didn't need it often before I was pregnant, just around pms time. Now I stink SUPER strong randomly, not everyday, but worse than before. And showers make me nauseous! So, I'm not exactly the cleanest I've ever been either! But the tea tree stuff does a good job, it's antibacterial so it kills off the stinky bugs.
