Protocol for Seeing Fellow Pregnant Women?

Hello ladies and gents! So I just returned from the grocery store and while I was there I noticed another pregnant woman. She had what appeared to be a one year old in the cart as well. We made eye contact for a second but I've been in this situation many times recently and wondered if there's a specific.....protocol? Like Heeeey. Look at us! We're both in the same boat! Do you smile and nod? I'll obviously resist the urge to say things like "hows it going!? Things are going well I guess, since you're on to #2 already?!" or "OMG tell me what it's like!! Am I going to survive? How was the whole childbirth thing?" I'm just curious what you guys do, if anything, when you're in the same or similar situation. Any and all thoughts welcome.

I see pregnant women a lot, but I've never made any contact with random ones or ever thought to... If it is another mom at a playgroup or library storytime or something like that we might compare due dates and chitchat about it, but there is definitely something else connecting us (our other kids around the same age, same playgroup, etc...) rather than simply being pregnant.

Usually, I'm with DH and my protocol is to look over at him all giddy and exclaim, "Look! She's got a belly too!!!!"

I don't like being approached by random strangers, whether they are pregnant or not.

I treat them like I would a normal person (because they ARE normal people)- If we happen to make eye contact I smile and that's it.

Thanks for the input! I'll try to resist the urge to make friends with strangers, but it has happened before.

I feel the same way. I wanna talk to them and acknowledge that we are BOTH doing something amazing!! Lol BUT everyone isn't as outgoings as I am, so I just smile and walk away. Also, considering the fact that I don't look pregnant means they think some plus sized lady is smiling at them for no reason! LOL but I do understand where you're coming from!

I'm usually with hubby and our thing is saying hey look a fellow prego lol but of I'm by myself I just smile and keep doing what I was doing which is usually listening to my 4 yr old talk oh boy can he talk lol
