Any fellow photographers out there?

I am not sure how close to my due date I should be booking photo shoots. The last wedding I accepted is one month before my due date and I am nervous about that one. I'm a FTM and I don't know how I will handle the stress of a wedding and being on my feet all day 8 mo preg! At least the smaller sessions such as family or seniors can be rescheduled if need be..

I am also a photographer and had to cancel two weddings right after I found out my due date. One was the same week I was due and the other was a month before. I'm also a FTM and even though I've heard of people shooting weddings at 8 months, I was scared not to recommend them to someone else and then be put on bed rest, the baby come early, etc. and have to find a replacement last minute. As far as regular sessions I'm still booking them fairly close to my due date but have assistants to help when needed. Like you said, regular sessions can be rescheduled if needed. I do quite a bit of newborns though and there are several people due the same month as me that wanted me to do theirs....I'm doing my own newborn with help from assistants but I'm scared to take on newborns to close to tome because there is a certain time frame for that too...

I'm a FTM and I'm canceling a few weddings for this summer- I thought to myself... It's gonna be hot, stressful, and a long day on your feet... Also not to mention the risk of being put on bed rest or something serious happening. I don't have an assistant so I'm just putting my foot down and saying no more major shoots

I work with my husband. We will have an associate step in for me at the end of my pregnancy. We also will be doing the same after the birth. I don't think I will be able to handle a wedding right before or after birth.

I'm only doing weddings through the summer and booking minimal sessions come September 1st. I'm already getting uncomfortable and want to give my clients the best so my sessions will be limited once I hit that 35-36 week mark! I'm also measuring ahead of my due date so I don't want to be in a bind! I'm also taking at least a month off once our girl is here!

I'm also a Wedding and Portrait photographer due 10/11 - I have 15 weddings this year! I decided to cancel my early October weddings and have made my "cutoff" date for 8 hour weddings 09/12...I think I'm open to shorter hour long sessions in that month I'm taking off - but I'm just going to play it by ear and see how I feel - I'm feeling pretty strong right now at 20 weeks. Also as a precaution I'm making sure I have an assistant for every wedding even if I didn't book one in their package.

I also shoot weddings and gave the end of June as my cutoff this summer- in MD there's a summer wedding lull in July and August anyway with th humidity, so it's not too big of a deal. July-August I'm doing seniors, newborns, maternity, engagements-- all the 1hour sessions and then strictly editing,etc in September. It works- I shot an 8 hour day last week and I can already tell how different I feel on my feet all day-- and how much less water I'm able to drink all day because I'm running around all day!

Good to hear what you ladies are planning! I have a wedding this weekend, the next and then one more in June. I guess I will see how those go at 19-23 weeks. I'm sure I'll feel a difference! My legs and feet are always very tired and sore after a wedding when I'm not pregnant so I'm sure I'll be wishing I could take a few excederin! (That was always my go to pain reliever!)
I've told my September bride my situation and let her know I'm planning on shooting unless I can't, so at least she's in the loop!

After hearing a friends horror story of shooting a wedding 8mo preg I thought I should give her a heads up that I will be that far along. In my friends case she had an awful bride that was irate when she showed up to shoot the wedding pregnant! She claimed that she took away from her day because she was stealing all the attention with her large belly!

My next and last wedding before baby is august 1st and I'm already dreading that one! At least they only booked me for 4 hours for a small ceremony that day.
