Fluid in uterus due to internal c-section scar

I have 3 year old twins from an IVF/ FET in 2011. In 2010 I had my right tube closed due to an ectopic. I never had fluid with the first pregnancy, the only issue was with my tube. Once we closed the tube I had IVF and got pregnant.

I had a c section with my boys. Since 2013, I have had 5 failed FETs since then due to fluid in my uterus. In every cycle since the c-section I have had fluid in my uterus. We first thought it was my left tube, so we closed it off but there was still fluid. We did the cauterization surgery but there was still fluid. In December 2014, I had laparoscopic surgery to resect and fix the scar. Today we saw a gap where the c-section scar still is on the ultrasound AND of course there was fluid. So the surgery did not work.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yup.  Exactly.  I didn't have primary infertility but I had 2 c-sections with my girls and have been trying for #3 for over 2 years with no luck.  3 miscarriages, 3 failed IUIs and my first IVF just ended in an ectopic.  I did not have the resect surgery, my doctor did the scraping surgery and it improved things 80% but there was still fluid when I went for my FET (we had to freeze all initially because of the fluid).  I'm repeating the surgery in June and using my last fresh cycle in August.  I also have DOR so I have 2 things against me.  Feel free to PM me.

Hi ladies I would love to talk to either of you if you are still active and around. I have been dealing with infertility for YEARS now, we have male factor and I have DOR. We got pregnant on our 5th procedure with twins, lost one and have a beautfil baby boy. I have been trying for baby #2 for over a year now. We have now had 2 IUI's cancelled due to not responding to the meds at all. But now at my last ultrasound on Saturday CD-10 there was fluid in my csection scar and leaking into my uterus. She said that even if there was a viable embryo it would be "washed away". She seems to think that this could change cycle to cycle but I dont understand how? I emailed my MFM who did my csection to ask her as well. I would love any insight that you both might have and what you have done to help this?

@meganfauer yes I'm still here (unfortunately)!  It's my 7 year olds birthday today and I have my sister's 4 kids here for 2 days because they are moving (CRAZY HOUSE).  I promise to respond more soon!  You can search under my screen name and c-scar defect to get more info.  Your OB/RE isn't exactly right, they don't get "washed away" that fluid is toxic to embryos and makes your ute a very hostile environment for embryos.  Women can do 2 things, have a surgery where they scrape away the scar tissue around your scar and hope that it heals and corrects the leak or they have a resection of their UTE.  The defect is called an "isthmocele" and the research on it is pretty new.  I live in upstate NY and my doc was the first in our area to perform the surgery.  I had it done twice, in Dec and June.  I'll find out on 8/3 if the second made any progress.  If your doctor doesn't know much about the procedure and issue I would seek a second opinion.  I"m not sure where you are located but I know there is an expert in Chicago.  Let me know if you have any other questions!
