Different due dates: 1st ultrasound vs anatomy scan

Hi ladies!

I'm really lost here so any input would be appreciated. I know it's really difficult to have an exact due date, there are so many factors at play after all, but since I was given two dates a week apart, it's really disheartening not knowing what to say when someone asks. My first ultrasound was Nov. 4, I was told I was 6w 6d pregnant! Happiest day ever! They said my due date would be 6/24. I don't know how this date correlates with my LMP because I'm really irregular, so no help there. On Jan 12, I had my anatomy scan which said I was 17w 4d and my due date was 6/18.

Did anyone else have different due dates based on their 1st ultrasound and anatomy scans and already delivered? Which date did it more closely match?

Thanks!!

  • Agree ^^^. Since you know it doesn't really matter, don't worry about it - "the end of June" is fine to tell people.
  • My period says 6/8 but the ultrasound says 6/14. My OB sticks with 6/8. My fundal measurements also stick along the 6/8 mark.

I'd just go with whatever your doctor prefers.
  • What has changed in the last 5 months that prompted you to post this today? Regardless of which ultrasound you go by, you're in the homestretch. I agree with PP- I think maybe you should discuss with your doctor if you're not clear. I'm assuming you've been receiving prenatal care, and they've been going by a certain date to structure your care (routine apps, GBS screening, any other investigations).

  • I've seen some other women whose due dates were a little off 1st u/s vs anatomy scan, but as PP have said, in the grand scheme of things even if you had matching due dates via both scans, its still going to be give or take 2 weeks from that date, anyway. I'm also due June 18 and I'm pretty much just going to be on alert and ready starting around June 5 (which is pretty close, yikes! :-SS )

I guess my advice would be just try to relax. You *are* almost there, no matter which date you use. Good luck, gal! :)>-

A 6 day variance is completely normal. For myself, I'd keep the later date in mind and rally against any sort of induction talk based on an earlier date.  A reasonable delivery window is 37-42 weeks of pregnancy (though in the US, OBs tend to get high-pressure after 41 starts, but you can request daily non-stress tests, if desired). DS1 was an IUI baby with a trigger shot so we knew what the scoop was. He measured off even very early with ultrasound. When he was born he showed signs of post-maturity (no vernix, skin drying) so it was clear that the IUI dating was correct and the ultrasound dating was wrong, but it really made no difference. He came when he was ready within that normal window.
  • I'm not sure what similar user names has to do with anything? I didn't even have the choice to choose my user name when I made my account on the app and have no clue how to change it now. Honestly there is no point in changing it this late in the game anyways because I'll be 37 weeks on Friday. But as regards to this post my due date has changed because of how big my baby has measured at the ultrasounds so maybe that helps you out.
  • Hi @Knottie6517282 from what I understand due dates do not change just because you are measuring big or small. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong?
  • Drs usually go by the first one. Mainly BC babies grow at different rates later on. One week difference is completely normal.
  • The reason they changed mine is because my baby is measuring 3 weeks ahead so therefore they are anticipating that my due date was wrong from the beginning.
  • But you are correct on they won't change it if it's only one week difference @taboullio84

You are right @hoodall82.. If they have an accurate early ultrasound they would not change it. If they did change it from looking at a later scan.. Then there is more going on particular to ones story as to why they aren't trusting an early one. There is nothing more accurate than an ultrasound prior to 10 weeks
  • When they had stopped it those 4 times I wasn't to term. I am now 38 weeks according to my change in due date and it's just a waiting game. But if I would've known all the side effects those shots can have on the baby I think it would've been better for him to have came early instead of getting all those shots. Last time they not only shot up my blood pressure and heart rate but they sped his heart rate up as well and that's when I discovered all of the bad side effects they can have on him. And after seeing everyone else's posts it seems like I was supposed to only get 1 shot at a time instead of numerous shots like I got every time I went so that sort of worries me as well. Hopefully he'll be perfectly healthy when he gets here!

    Hahahahaha............. Amazing.
Also @amark11 the pitocin thread was the same way for me!
  • I don't have another account. I didn't start this thread that's a completely different person the only reason I even commented on this thread to begin with is because my user name was mentioned in the comments but no the creator of this thread is definitely not me.

    . @hayesrn13 Downright great catch
  • I seriously don't have another account. Like I stated earlier I didn't choose my username because if I did it would've been something completely different. But also I honestly don't care who thinks I have more than one account either. I have this app so that I can read about what my baby is up to each week not to ask a million questions especially when I can look it up on google first.

This makes me feel like we are part of a mystery show...awesome detective work ;). But then again her response may be accurate...hmmmm
  • I'm not married thanks. I'm a 19 year old single mother. I don't need anyone's opinions off of this app. And I've had 14 shots I went into preterm labor 4 times you obviously didn't read it correctly because I've clearly stated I've had MORE than 1 shot each time. My due date went from the original due date of the 24th to my new due date which is the 10th at my appointment which isn't really anyone's concern other than mine. As far as my complications are concerned I'm so glad you've had a smooth pregnancy but some of us have not!
  • Ironic that we just had a thread about this then BAM!! They all arrive at the same time.
  • @OnWayto3 figured it out 8->
  • For the love of Peter - this post is a train wreck.
  • There is another knottie on the May board that posted on the new arrivals. Is it possible that the bump actually was assigning that user name?? Maybe if they came from the knot or something?

Yes, the Bump/the Knot most likely did assign the user name; I think that the theory that these two users are one and the same comes the fact that not only are their user names the default, but their situations are SO similar. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Situations may be similar but I also cannot change my default picture on my phone I've tried numerous times and it won't allow me too. I don't appreciate people making false accusations just because the lady that posted this may be in a similar situation to mine. I however haven't paid any attention to any of this lady's posts other than this one and that is because someone took it upon themselves to tag me in it otherwise I wouldn't have known that there was another user that had a similar username to mine. Until the end of my pregnancy I will no longer be posting on this community because everyone is so quick to assume and be rude to one another. The what to expect app is much better and we all get along on that forum. So if I have any questions anymore that's the app I'll be going to for advice. Also since these lady's brought it upon themselves to say I'm a fraud I will be sure to post a picture of my precious baby boy in the birth announcements when he arrives.
