Pregnant after 35

I really dislike Facebook sometimes....

I'm not really a huge poster. Typically I post kid pictures and things of that nature. I might share an amber alert or a recipe or something. I comment on others post but even that I'm not really a constant commenter.

My step mom has an aunt who is going thru a tough time with a bad reaction to an anti depressant. It's pretty bad and it seems to be permanent. She knows that I'm pregnant. Everyone knows. And I swear any chance she gets she commenting or lecturing me about safe things to do. She saw a comment I made about natural ways to induce labor. I was 100% kidding and she blasts me in FB about forcing the baby out. That ticked me off. Im almost 39 wks! Im not forcing anything!!

So tonight there was a post about benefits of pineapple juice. And I commented that I had just read an article about pineapple juice and inflammation. She immediately comments and says I hope you're being patient with that baby!! So I said yep just not so patiently awaiting. Living on fumes and Tylenol. Again I was kidding. And again she puts me on blast on FB about Tylenol!!

I mean seriously I'm not sitting at home overdosing on Tylenol for Pete's sake. Geesh. She put several links on there and then tried to post to my wall!!

I just unfollowed her.

Re: I really dislike Facebook sometimes....

  • Yup. That's an 'unfriend' situation. Can't stand people like that who bring me down. Or who come to my posts and my wall telling me how what I do is 'wrong' or stupid. Hello, person, when I see you post something I think is stupid, I roll my eyes and keep scrolling.
I've actually had to have a talk with my dad with his social media behavior. We disagree on many life viewpoints, and he was constantly sharing his propaganda which I constantly ignored but should I share some of lifestyle propaganda, he jumped all over me about it constantly. Then came after me on the phone if I told him to stuff it. Well, I wouldn't have told you to stuff it and shut up if you had just rolled your eyes and kept scrolling, like I do! Don't come and attack something I'm saying and I feel strongly about and expect me to just take it meekly cause you are my father.
I honestly kinda wish I could unfriend my dad cause of this reason buy he lives in another country and so never sees us otherwise.
Good for you for just letting that negativity go. Its quite freeing.

  • I'd "customize" any comments I make, too and hide them from her. I'm sorry she's acting like that! May be she'll find a hobby, besides "worrying" about your pregnancy, soon. ☺

  • Yep! Sadly I have people that I do it for.
  • It cut off the rest of my message.
  • O.M.G! There's a little "settings" gear in the text box.
  • Good to know!! Thanks!! It just irritates me. I've had really really bad sciatic pain that radiates down my butt and the backs of my legs. So I've been taking reg strength Tylenol. Not even a full dose! I've been doing one tablet when it says adults take two tablets. And she went crazy and posted all this stuff about pain killers etc etc. Really ticked me off. I didn't even start taking it until my third trimester. Wasn't even taking it daily. And took half the dose. Ugh. Just really annoying. My OB was also very aware.

  • And she acted like I was trying to break my own water wheni talked about natural ways to bring on labor. Geesh. I had a massage. A pedicure. And I've used sage oil as recommended like three times. The sage actually relaxes me and I like it mostly for that.

Yeah, in those situations I have my posts tailored so that certain people can't see them, you can always change it if you want to include her in something later, & I also hide their posts from my newsfeed. Some people, (relatives, usually) you can't just unfriend without drama & this is just easier. I've also taken a FB hiatus from time to time. I find that I am very emotional & (go figure) irrational & have ended up getting into sparring wars with idiotic friends of friends over things that will bring no one any good. It's never a bad idea to step a way from the facebook & you keep getting your footrubs & using your sage oil & let your OB tell you what is or isn't ok as far as tylenol, etc!

O.M.G, just read your lasts posts. I've never heard of one doctor that says that Tylenol is not O.K. I got headaches, as do most women, pretty frequently for a while there and took Tylenol at least once a day, several times a week. There's nothing wrong with Tylenol. Massages are fine, too, especially pedicures! Anything you can do to ease aches and pains, such as Tylenol and massage, is good for you and subsequently baby. As far as your nerve pain goes, I wouldn't get "adjusted" by a chiropractor, but you could have one just tug on your legs in an attempt to relieve that pain. I won't get an adjustment while pregnant, but I would do something less aggressive like that. Or do you have a pregnancy pillow? One of those eliminated the hip pain, that was causing me to walk with an attractive limp, that I was getting.
  • @PlainJane8350. Exactly. I was SO annoyed at her comments. It's either Tylenol or not being able to move at all. That's how painful it is. Grr.

I never did call the chiropractor. I really didn't have time in my schedule and no insurance coverage for it either. It would have all been oop. I've been doing some stretches that have been suggested. Been doing Tylenol. Massage. I heard essential oil valor can help too but it didn't do much for me at all. I do have a body pillow as well as about 5 King sized pillows. They help but not tremendously. Then I finally get comfortable and my reflux kicks in. Lol. I'm a mess right now.

  • Lame, hate people like that. Why people think they have to be so judgmental about everything is beyond me. I take it she doesn't have children. They seem to be the "best" at parenting.
  • I have reflux, indigestion, something, too. I asked my husband if he would have dated me if I buried then as much as I do now. Yuck. Have you tried ice? For your sciatica, not reflux. ☺Heat feels better to me, but I've is supposed to be better for nerve pain. How brave is your husband? May be you could lay down on the bed and he could give your stems a gentle tug.
  • You can put her on the restricted list as well. I believe it can be done in the privacy settings. Unfollow is also an option. No one should put up with such behavior, especially from family!!!
  • One thing that helped me tremendously was to delete f/b...best thing I ever did..
  • I just left this whole pregnancy off facebook. I'd rather deal with trolls and their opinions face to face.
