im 29 weeks pregnant with my first girl, and had decided before my husband and I even got married that I wanted to name my future daughter Laila. now, his family is interjecting and saying they don't like this name, as well as literally any other name I or my husband pick out. instead they keep suggesting old, ugly names that I'm not comfortable with at all. how do I get my husband to not listen to their opinions and see how important it is to me to name my child?
Re: picking a name
You should try to discuss with hubby and explain that no matter what name you choose everyone will have an opinion on it if you allow them to. This happened with the first name we had picked out and his whole family hated it. From that moment on we decided that the only opinions we needed were our own. We now have told everyone we are naming her McKinley with no room for their opinions and no one has said anything negative thus far..
Once you choose a name own it and tell them its gonna be what it is and they won't give their opinion if it's not warranted
Good luck!
If we have a girl I want to call her Olivia however was discussing with someone how popular it was. The girl said told me to name her what we (hubby and I) wanted because if we name her something we don't really like we will regret in in years to come and wish we had named her Olivia.
So give her the name Laila if that is what you and your husband want otherwise you'll regret it in years to come.
