Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Exercise - how soon after?

I had a d&c yesterday.. And am of course going through a bazillion emotions... I do want to get through this and begin to get healthy, mainly for my mental health... How soon after a d&c did you feel strong enough to really get back to a normal workout routine?

I had my D&C on Monday and was back to a non-impact barre workout on Thursday and felt pretty good. Ran/jogged on Friday and that went ok too. Everyone is different, so I'd suggest starting easy and really listening to your body (& doc if he/she gave any recommendations). Sending good thoughts your way!
  • I was wondering this myself, my midwife told me I have to wait 6 weeks. But she also told me a lot of stuff that I don't believe. I have an appointment with a new midwife this Thursday so I plan on asking her all my questions again. It's been 3 weeks since my MC and it's driving me crazy not going. I had an early miscarriage at 6w0d
  • I was told to wait two weeks. In fact I picked up my toddler 3-4 days after I had the D&C and it caused a major shooting pain that continued for a few hours. I won't be doing anything strenuous until after my follow up appt at two weeks with my doc.
  • Thank ya'll... Other than some random cramping... I actually feel okay today. 3 days post op... However; when that random cramping comes... It's pretty painful... I may stick it out one more day and start out on the treadmill at home before heading back to they gym.. Thanks for all of your feedback and many prayers for each of you.

I finally did a walk&running workout for 40min for the first time since the mmc. 3 and a half weeks and my body finally feels like normal. Now i just need to lose the weight from eating so much during the pregnancy.

I agree with @Goldsgirl9 - i avoided carrying anything remotely heavy, the cold, air conditioning, and made sure my stomach area was warm for the past weeks. I started carrying heavy things just a few days ago.
