Hello (^v^)
I'm happy to be able to post now, I have been lurking for a little while and I really like the feel of this community.
I used to be on other TTC and such boards before. But never really found my place, even after years. For example I'm not a huge fan of trying to share a story or concern and all I get is baby dust thrown at me.
I know people mean well but I see baby dust as the same thing as getting told "just relax and it will happen".
So yes I really like the attitude of this forum so far ^.^
Since right now is a very important part of my life for me and also a time where I could use people to talk to, people who understand. I figured I would try and join, hopefully I will fit in well.
Here is our story so far:
I am 28 and my husband is 32. We have been TTC our first child for over three years. Since December 28, 2011. In December 2013 we went to our first fertility specialist appointment. After getting poked by needles more times than I can count and many other tests the diagnosis was:
Me = Mild PCOS and husband = Very low count and motility. After more tests he was diagnosed with a varicocele vein, and after the procedure to fix it and a few months his sperm count and motility went up a little bit, but not enough unfortunately.
So the most viable option for us is IVF. After a few months of waiting (yay 50 day cycle) I am finally on the pre-IVF cycle, I started the birth control pill yesterday. And will be starting metformin soon. And Next cycle I will undergo a modified IVF cycle, with ICSI. That should be around end of June or start of July.
Sorry if that was long, I wanted to give details but I tried not to be too much. Hopefully I get to meet some of you who are going through the same thing or similar.
Small about me section: I am a huge geek, love video games and board games. Love reading especially fantasy books. Love movies, like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and Marvel movies. I enjoy cooking and baking, and eat too many sweets. We have six cats, yes we are crazy cat people lol.
Nice to meet all of you. (*^▽^*)

If you don't mind, I will add you to the Tuesday weekly checkin...
Married for 7 years, TTC for 4 years
dx: Diminished Ovarian Reserve
2 Clomid IUI's + 4 injectable IUI's= 5 BFNs and 1 mc
It is always nice to meet other geeks!!
My favorite board game is Settlers of Catan. I play it every time I am with my sisters. That and Ticket to Ride is really nice too and Risk, especially the themed ones. What is yours?
I don't mind at all. How does it work exactly this Tuesday check in?
In my case modified IVF means I will be taking oral metformin and moving on to injectables later in my cycle. Is that what a mini-IVF is?
I am doing this because I have a higher than average number of follicles (14-15) so I am at higher risk for follicule hyperstimulation syndrome. My doctor is hopeful she can get a good ammount of eggs with this approach and lower the risk to me.
She said that if this cycle does not work and I have no embryos/blatocysts to freeze we will move on to a full IVF cycle.
She is one of the best fertility specialist in Canada so I am glad! I am in very good hands.

On Tuesdays we all talk about what happened on the fertility plan for the past week, and then have a question of the day, which could be about anything. It's our way of keeping up with everybody's progress.
Your treatment plan sounds awesome. Over the years I've met lots of PCOS gals who had horrible experiences with overstimulation, so it's great that your doctor understands this and has a plan.
Mini-IVF is lower dose stimulation with the hope of having a smaller number of eggs. Some people do it for religious reasons, but not me. I really suspect that I produce poorer quality eggs on injects. I'd like to try lower, slower stimulation and hopefully have a few better quality follies!
GL with your treatment cycle...

Yes I am very lucky to have my doctor. She is very good! And I really like that we have a treatment plan that is custom to us. It makes us feel a lot more comfortable.
Good luck with your cycle as well. Hope you do get better quality eggs.
@kristylang
We are very similar then. I started the pill on Thursday, so only two days after you. I have an appointment on this Thursday for an sonogram and then the Thursday after that we have the appointment with the nurse to go everything, I am sure we will go into the timeline more then.
She said we would do the retrieval procedure and implantation end of june/start of july.
I can't wait. It's pretty exiting to think that there is actually a good chance I will be pregnant. i try not to get my hopes up tho, it may take more than one cycle...
Good luck to you to! We should keep each other updated! Since we are on a similar schedule and all.
