June 2015 Moms

2 more weeks!!!

Anyone else due soon, and planning on going all natural?! Just took a tour of our hospital last weekend, and was VERY impressed. I will be requesting the L&D room that has a massive tub in it to help with labor!! Hopefully going to be able to stick with the "no drugs" plan!!

Also plan on breastfeeding, and found out that if you drink pineapple juice it could help breastfeeding go much smoother and virtually pain free, since it's a natural anti-inflammatory!

Starting to get more freaked out. Officially "full-term" so baby Henley could show up any day, which honestly is fine because I'm tired of being a baby oven, but the nerves are kicking in! Hospital bag is packed (mostly), baby girl's room is organized and ready. House still isn't as clean as I want it. How is everyone dealing with that? Are you hiring someone to clean before you come home? Is your mom or significant other helping out? I feel like my fiance and step-son just aren't cleaning as well as I want them to!! AAAHHHHH

Re: 2 more weeks!!!

  • I know, so exciting! I'm only 35 weeks and some change, but I am getting more and more anxious realizing that we are only 9 days away from being in our group's birth month! Plus the daily birth announcements of so many precious, healthy, good-sized babes is giving me baby fever already!

First of all, lucky you to have a tub in a delivery room as an option: I wish! Also, I am trying for a med-free L&D in hospital as my homebirth plans were thwarted when I was diagnosed at 26 weeks with gestational hypertension :( Are you a FTM, by chance, too?
By the way, Henley, I LOVE the name choice!

I'm feeling so behind because I haven't even had my baby showers yet, I haven't packed a hospital bag, and the car seat has been sitting in its box since DH and I purchased it several months ago. As far as cleaning, I went on a rampage with DH last week and did some deep down, very necessary cleaning of our entire 4 bedroom house. It was such a relief to get that out of the way, but now we are trying to maintain the cleanliness (we'll see how that goes). I think that if you just don't have the time or energy to clean everything yourself, or don't trust family to do a really good job, you should hire someone ASAP and give everyone ultimatums to maintain the cleanliness!

My mom will be coming to the hospital for the birth and probably staying one night after we get home, then DH has a few weeks at home with me, but once he goes back to work, then my mom will be coming to stay for about a week or more, depending, to help out further. I am soooooo grateful!

I'm due June 5th so I'm very excited and I'm just ready to meet my son. I'm hoping to have him by Monday so I don't have to return to work after Memorial Day lol.
  • I'm due June 4th and am so-so ready. DH is planning to clean cars and have car seat installed. All baby stuff is ready to go too. Doc said not to go into labor this weekend because he is going out of town. Lol But, I would be okay with baby making his debut any time now. Good luck to all you ladies. We are in the home stretch! :D
  • I'm due June 6th and with a full term baby now, I know she can come at any time! I actually am nursing a rowdy cold right now and have been laid up in bed for the past few days so I'm really hoping she stays put until I'm 100%. I also plan on going totally intervention and med-free (I'm a home birth mama) so I need ALL of my energy for my birthing day.

This cold has set me back! I still have a bit of organizing to do, there is a PILE of laundry to be done, I need to make my electrolyte drinks, and freeze a meal or two. This sucks. My husband doesn't cook so we've had take out the past two nights, lol. I hate it!

We just moved out of my home state so we don't have family or friends within a 1000 mile radius. My mom will be coming for 2 weeks after our Alessandra is born but it's not the same. :-( **sigh** Other than that, I'm ready to see my sweet babe!
  • I'm having a cs on June 4th so less than 2 weeks. About the same as you. Bag is mostly packed and nursery is mostly ready. I just have to hang stuff on the walls. I hope I don't go early. I have a ton of work to finish up or transition next week. Also, DH is going to philly next weekend for a family wedding. So, I'm hoping lo stays put. Good luck ladies.

Franco Paul born 6/4/15 at 39 weeks.  Mila Francesca born 10/19/13 at 37 weeks.  Both born via C-Section after 6 years of fertility treatments, disappointments and losses. Love them!!

  • My c section is in 25 days (at 39 weeks 5 days) !! But kind of hoping she comes a little earlier! I've never heard that about pineapple juice, so I will do some research because I have been there done that, for over a year but the first two weeks were super painful.

I'm due June 3rd but being induced next Thursday! (Although I wouldn't be surprised if he came before then). Bags are packed, car seat installed, room is ready. I've done everything on my list and today was my last day at work so it's just a waiting game for me now! I almost wish I wold have left something for me to work on bc I feel like these next 6 days are going to drag!!

Good luck ladies!! We are almost there!!
  • @ksimo6 I'm in the same boat as you! I don't have my bag packed DH doesn't have his bag packed we don't have DDs bag packed for when she stays with my parents we don't have LOs bag AND we don't have either of the car seats in either car! I'm feeling very unprepared as DS is due June 6th but I'm hoping that I get a lot accomplished over this 3 day weekend!

I'm being induced June 3rd and can't believe how quickly it's coming! Bags are packed, room is ready, no car seat installed yet will probably do that this weekend! Husband has been cleaning over the past few weeks- I'm a nurse and after being at work all day on my feet I'm too exhausted to clean when I get home lately! Ready for little man to be here and kiss his little face!!!
  • I'm having my c section on June 4th and I'm welcoming the drugs lol.. I'm excited I don't have to push plus I have a big head myself so I can only imagine pushing this Lil girl out. I wish I could experience a water birth but unfortunately I can never deliver vaginally which is fine by me. I've been on bed rest the last two weeks and I'm absolutely ready to evict this little girl so I can hold and kiss her sweet face. Good luck ladies
  • No water birth here, the tub is strictly for "relaxation", when its time to push the doctor will make me get out, but that's fine by me! Wish I knew someone with a pool, or the river was warm enough because the amount of swelling in my feet is ridiculous! Doc says its fine though, she suggested freeze pops to stay hydrated if I get sick of water, and basically suck it up haha, thanks a lot!!

Car seat isn't installed, no freezer meals here because my fiance is the one who cooks anyways, lucky mom lives 5 blocks away, so she will be around to help out. I'm working up until the day if I can!! Desk job, so it shouldn't be difficult. I'd go insane if I wasted maternity leave without my precious girl to spend it with!! FTM and very excited. Been helping raise my teenage stepson, the other one officially comes to live with us in July, so I will have my hands full, but very thankful I'll have another girl in the house!!

If you're breastfeeding I highly recommend reading The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by La Leche League. Its amazing. Wish we had a group close by, pretty sure we don't. :(

  • @RondaRassat when I took the tour of my hospital all I had to do was call literally right before going over to make sure someone was available to show me around and answer my questions. They suggested I do it on a weekend because most women schedule their inductions during the week so they aren't super busy on weekends. Give your L&D unit a call!! It was really helpful!
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Hoping to go natural but they are inducing due to bp issues. So I will see how it goes. My original edd was the 2nd.
I had already toured the hospital and been up there twice since that's my office policy if your bp is too high. My hospital bag is packed and I put the carseat in last week. Some food is frozen and we have been saving up our giftcards for restaurants to carry out.
  • Nice idea with the gift cards!! Never thought of that!! I think I'll join in on that idea, I can buy the gift cards at Giant Eagle and get points towards money off on gas since our first trip with baby Henley will be at the end of July to visit my fiances family and pick up our other son! Thanks for the idea!
  • Due 6/11 but inducing on 6/7, last day of work hopefully 6/5! Everything is packed including the fur baby just in case!
  • @moz3518 I'm getting induced next Thursday also. I said the same thing about these days dragging by but I can't wait to get this over with. ;;)

We are almost at the finish line ladies :D
  • Due June 5, and hoping baby stays til June 1 at least, and that I can go med-free. Also hoping for a water birth, but there are two first-come first-served tubs at my hospital, so we shall see. Still need to pack my bag (though hospital said just bring a smile), and do lots of laundry. Also need nursing bras. Last day of work is Friday the 29th... but only working Weds-Fri, and only half days.

So close! Not sure what sounds worse - giving birth or staying this pregnant, lol. Luckily I don't really have a choice!
  • Am I being really stupid by not packing a bag? Since I got my GBS result I figured it would give me something to do in early labor to take my mind off the infrequent contractions. There's literally not a single thing I could forget that would ruin my stay (someone could always bring me whatever I need), but I don't know if I'm just being naive thinking I'll be able to think clearly.

Ditto here. DH and I discussed maybe making a list and taping it to the front door. My bag is basically my phone, iPad and chargers. And toothbrush. DH can easily swing home if we really need anything else.

@dancegurl1118 I think (at least for me) you get so used to 1st time moms labor taking forever that I think it's natural to not get fired up over anything like bag packing! The only reason I packed mine is I'm at home anxious and bored.... And wanted something to do that day! Lol
  • Bags are packed (except for phone chargers, etc on my last minute list), & I'm in some crazy nesting mode this weekend. Somewhat stressed that my parents are staying in the room that will be the nursery while their house is being built. I love that they are here and they really are a big help, but the extra clutter and lack of storage space is cramping my style at the moment. We planned to have baby in our room for the first couple of months regardless, so the pack and play, rock and play, etc are ready. Our room is already feeling a bit tight, though, and that's with me still having some energy/time to keep it relatively tidy & keep up with laundry. Messes stress me out. I hope I can keep my cool when baby boy arrives and I'm running on no sleep!
  • Baby Henley update!! I had my 38 week appointment today (38 weeks 1 day to be precise, not that anyone's counting haha!), and they gave me the option to have an exam to see if I'm dilated yet, which I declined, because I've read that too many exams can be bad, plus I had the slightly awkward doctor, and go back to my normal doctor next week so I figured I can wait. They also told me that if she hasn't come by next Monday's appointment that I will have the option to schedule an induction. Thoughts? I don't really WANT to be induced, I just want it to happen. However, I haven't done any reading on inductions, so I guess it's time to do a little research. I just know I don't want to have any drugs, so if they do induce, and she doesn't come with just broken water and they have to give me meds I'll be a little disappointed. Thoughts on that as well? Am I crazy? I feel a little crazy. Not to mention, my replacement for maternity leave (who happens to be one of my aunts and one of my bosses) isn't ready to be me yet!!!

We have a puppy having surgery next Tuesday, needs picked up Wednesday. I all of the sudden feel very NOT ready!!!! AAHHHH
  • Here's a great article that I hope helps you make the best decision for your situation: https://avivaromm.com/labor-induction-low-natural-approaches-midwife-md

Elective inductions can increase your risk for a cascade of other interventions ultimately leading to a c-section but it really all depends on your preference. Don't be afraid to say NO! It's your body, your baby and it knows when it's time.

Wishing you all the best & most importantly a beautiful birth!
  • Best of luck to your puppy!! @kgaston7 just know things at work will work out because they have to...when there is no choice people figure it out! As for induction that is a very personal choice! I am opting to cook as long as possible no induction unless necessary. You say you don't want drugs....well pitocin(used for induction) in is drugs! So I don't understand. You sound a little crazy! Take a step back have a snack and a nice drink they baby will come one way or another! Good luck!
