Transition from BM/Formula to whole milk...

How long did it take you to make the transition to just whole millk?  I started today with 3 oz. of milk per bottle mixed with 4 oz. of formula.

This is what we did:

prior to 11 months - 3 bottles/day

11 months - replaced mid afternoon bottle with sippy of milk

11.5 months - replaced mid morning bottle with sippy of milk

12 months - eliminated bed time bottles; moved milk sippys to coincide with meals and snacktimes and offered water sippys throughout the day

About a week.

Our pedi cautioned against putting milk in a bottle or formula in a sippy.  He also advised to get rid of bottles at 1 year (before they're too emotionally attached)

We just dropped bottle AND formula one at a time starting with naps and ending with bed time bottle.  We dropped a new one each day.

Went better than expected.

We did the same as you as far as trasititoning him to BM.  It took us about 3-4 weeks to fully transition a 8oz bottle.

We ended up dropping the bottle cold turkey. I just put milk in his sippy one day and gave it to him with breakfast, lunch and dinner and haven't turned back since. I thought it would be hard for him to stop the bottle but I was wrong. It worked out just fine.

We asked our doctor about this and she mentioned something about not wanting to mix formula and whole milk. She said it was only a small study but she said better safe than sorry. I think it had something to do with changing the proteins when mixed. So we went cold turkey. We tried to give him one bottle of milk in the day but he just refused it and waited for the formula bottle. So we just finished formula and started giving him milk. At first he didn't like it but by the end of the first day he was taking milk like it was what he always had.
