This is a weekly checkin for members in their 1st trimester. Congrats to everyone that has made it to this check-in! Feel free to post your updates here until your 14th week.
Please post below and include your EDD and how many beans you have. (And let me know if I have any info wrong!). Welcome!
How far along are you this week? Any appointments or other updates?
QOTW: What has been your best (or most absurd) excuse for why you can't eat/drink/do something that you've had to use with people who don't yet know that you're pregnant?

Re: * * * 1st Tri check in 5/18/15 * * *
Today is 7w2d, thank goodness. I had a second scare Friday, 6w6d, out at a restaurant when I went to use the restroom, the toilet filled with blood. There was luckily a sweet woman inside to talk me down and give me some paper towels to clean myself with while DH was on hold with our after hours line. Since we couldn't get through to anyone, he drove me to the ER that was a minute down the road.
Long story short, my subchorionic hematoma apparently reopened (we think since we got no details on where it was located and we hope it's not a second one) but both beans were doing great with great heartbeats. The measurements of size were a little smaller than expected but I think the u/s tech may not have had the best equipment and wasn't as well practiced as our fertility doctors.
We finally got ahold of one of our doctors who told us to relax and demanded a phone call after we left the er. I was ordered to bed rest, yet again, until our appt tomorrow morning. I'm extremely nervous, hoping everything comes out ok and praying I don't need to do bed rest for 7 more months!
I have been afraid to ask about our EDD but have looked myself and that seems about right.
As for the QOTW, most of our close family and friends know we here doing ivf. We reluctantly had to tell DHs side we were pregnant right away because I we had to miss family events due to bed rest, which is also a reason we haven't seen our friends and haven't needed excuses yet. As of right now, we are keeping the fact that I have two beans inside a secret. A, because DH is worried I will miscarry one and he doesn't want to have to explain it. B, because we want something to surprise people with if in fact both beans continue to grow.
Qotw: we go to the same restaurant every weekend for breakfast, and I've been telling them I found out I had a murmur (which I do) and that's why I can't drink coffee... DH and I usually share a carafe over breakfast!
I am 8w5d with one little one, EDD is Christmas Eve! I have my first appointment with my regular OB on Thursday and will have my second ultrasound then as well and I can't wait!
QOTW: I haven't really had to come up with an excuse yet, but I did have one awkward thing happen when my brother was over before he knew I was pregnant. He was going to go out and get subs for him and my DH because they were going fishing. I asked him to get one for me, thinking that I would just bake it and it would be good. Well my DH (without thinking) says, "you can't eat that". I gave him a dirty look and told him that I could. He responded with "well you have to heat it up then." My poor brother had no clue what was going on. As soon as he walked out of the house both my DH and I burst out laughing. Well DH ended up telling my brother that night anyways
Have another scan tomorrow which is exciting! They wanted to check on progress because of the second one that did not make it, they were being extra cautious and we decided to take another look! My MIL arrives in the morning and she doesn't know but we are going straight to the scan! I can think of anything better after a 15 hour flight that will make her forget her travels and be glad she is here!
My beta I had done last week was my third and was over 20,000 so we are not doing anymore as she was happy with results. Because of where I live we also did a full bloods for loads of different parasites and nasties, which came back clear. I did have a slightly raised white blood cell count hit the doctor emailed saying not to worry and she is happy with it and will explain the results at the scan.
Food is still an issue! I have been have terrible nausea woke me up at 4 am this morning and lasts until around 1030 and then back at around 5 for about an hour too. I craving chips (fries to Americans) unhealthy I know but taste too good to me at the moment to care. I was a little worried I wasn't eating enough so really trying hard and once my MIL arrives o am sure she will be on my case about food.
I am so confused about EDD my IVF doctor said 4th Jan but my calculation is 8th and my doc who did the scan agrees with me. So I am about 7w today.
I am terrible at keeping it secret! I was invited to a friends house and they have Oysters fresh outside their house and when he phoned to ask if we wanted them. I just blurted out I lm pregnant I can't! I am an awkward lier so I would rather just say when confronted. They are a couple in there 70s so they know the ropes. Also where I live there is no culture of keeping it a secret. You say when you know. Which is odd considers risks to the baby here are hugely higher raight up to delivery and beyond!
Great reading your updates! Sorry this turned into an essay!! Whoops... Have a great week everyone and enjoy those little babies!
QOTW: Havent had to give too many excuses. Most close friends and family are aware of the IVF. I am just avoiding all others for the time. Haven't had my haircut in forever bc I don't want to have to tell my hairdresser/friend yet and I really suck at lying.
Very glad your lo is still sticky, you've been in my thoughts all week.
