Advice

Hey y'all! My husband & I aren't trying to get pregnant yet, but we plan on trying in the next year or so. So with that being said, I read on pinterest about preparing your body for pregnancy...like eating right, getting in shape, making sure to take vitamins, all that stuff; so that ways it'll be easier on your body & have a good pregnancy. I do have heart problems, so I want it to be as easy on my body as possible. So down to my question, did any moms to be, or mommas prepare for pregnancy? What did you do & how early did you do it?

Thanks!

  • I would also suggest temping/tracking your cycles on fertility friend for a few months prior to TTC. That way when the time comes you already know how to track your cycle and you have a better understanding of when you tend to ovulate.

  • I'm planning to start prenatal vitamins about six months from TTC. I'd also like to cut back a bit on H and my craft beer habit-I'm going to drink 'til it's pink, but I think a little less in the meantime would be good for overall health. I've gotten into running and do plan to keep that up as well.
  • First thing I did was visit each and every one of my health care providers for an annual. I told them about our plan to TTC in October 2015 and asked them to help me figure out what had to be changed health-wise.I also visited our gym and got a physical assessment. I brought that assessment back to my physician along with the trainer's recommendations to verify that the new training program would be okay. Essentially I'm prepping as though I'll run a half-marathon.

It was a bit pricey, but if there's a holistic way to ease the effects of pregnancy and childbirth, I want to take it.

Have you looked into actually running a half marathon? I did my first last year and it was tough, but so fun and rewarding! I'm planning on another in early October. Having an event like that coming really keeps me motivated.

So my no-longer-secret-secret is that when it comes to fitness and sports, I freeze up around people. The best I can do is swimming since I usually can't see other people looking at me. So I never really participate.
  • With my first child, I had a complete physical and blood work done, updated my vaccines before trying. I learned from having him that having a baby is a serious workout! To have my 2nd I started working out/walking a lot/taking the stairs more, I went on the Paleo diet to loose some weight also to boost my fertility. Hubby had to get in shape and eat healthy too to help his fertility as well.
