Keeping cool

i can't seem to keep cool now that the weather is warmer. Being out for just a short time I get super hot and exhausted. My body just feels drained and I keep drinking water. Any other tips?

Re: Keeping cool

  • I would up the water intake and wear light breathable clothing made of natural fibers. Stay away from denim and spandex

Is light spandex bad? I have some spandex shorts that are the only thing that fit right now. Might be to get just light weight jogging shorts.

Texas heat is no joke, and my ac just went out. Will be getting that fixed asap! Light clothes and summer dresses!
  • They make cooling cloths for runners and other athletes.  After the past few days, I've considered picking some up.  I've started freezing water bottles if I'm going out so after a few hours I can have a cold drink of water to help cool me off.  There are also fans with little water bottles attached so you can mist yourself.  My kids love them and I think I'll get some of those from the dollar store too.

I live in coastal GA where the temperatures have already been in the 90's and it only goes up from here.

  • Floridian here - my baby has broken my ability regulate my body temp. I drink tons of cold water, freeze water bottles, drink a lot more gatoraide than I should, eat way too many Popsicle sticks, and wear all the breathable clothing that I can.

  • Get yourself a nice summer hat! Keeping my face shaded helps reduce feeling the heat, even when my arms and legs are burning. I'm in Arizona, with long hair, and constantly have it braided to cool off my neck. Also, try to plan as many errands/activities early morning/early evening. Days are hottest between 11am-3pm, so I prefer to hideout during those hours.
