Finally having that DX is nice but yet not. I have PCOS as well, even now with it being a more common DX I find myself still explaining it to people or even some doctors. It is one of those things that people just don't "get". Hell, I was DX'd years ago and still don't fully "get" it, as they are still updating the symptoms and issues associated with this syndrome. Maybe one day they will be able to do something more than just treat the symptoms of this issue.
I wish you luck on your journey of treatments. And when you get to the BD stage! But you can still get plenty of practice in now!!

I am deeply sorry for you, and I wish you all the best in this journey! Know you are not alone - there are so many ladies out here working in their PCOS management journey with you!
I was diagnosed last year with PCOS. I have always had irregular cycles, but when I was 18 (2009), my doc put me on Birth control pills to regulate my cycles - never mentioned the possibility of PCOS or something being wrong... so I blindly followed. Well I got married in 2013 and DH and I wanted to try and have a baby, since we had been dating for 5 or so years, we figured it was time to expand our little family.
Once I came off BC pills - my cycle never came back. eventually. 9 or so months later, I was diagnosed with PCOS.
my insurance doesn't cover anything infertility related, and that is what the doctors keep referring my tests and treatments to... well, I could see was starting to getting very expensive - so I had to find an alternative route to helping me manage my symptoms. I couldn't afford thousands of dollars the first month or two of just tests...
First thing I did was change my diet - low GI diet (Sugar busters is what I try to use as my guidelines). This helps maintain the weight (I am not over weight, but did notice it was hard to loose weight if i tried... so this is helping with that.
I also researched Acupuncture for fertility - I've been doing sessions once a week for the past few months (Since March), along with a Chinese herbal supplement called Jade Pearl 2. After 9 weeks, I got my first period without hormone pills to force it. it felt great to know the acupuncture is working for me!
Now, I am trying to bring back ovulation with acupuncture... I am charting my BBT to figure this out... Haven't gotten the O day yet. but I am very hopeful!
my goal was to have my first baby before I turned 25.... I have a short window now to reach that goal - but I am still hopeful.
I hope you find a method that works for you. Good luck to you in this journey!

I am sorry you have pcos but honestly it isn't the worst thing to have when it comes to fertility. Lots and lots of women that have pcos have good luck with just timed sex and clomid! I think you're going to be just fine honesty.
PCOS is a bummer, yes, but enough is known about it that with a good game plan and persistence, pregnancy could very well happen. Just hang in there.
When I was diagnosed with PCOS, shortly thereafter doctors found that I was insulin resistant. There seems to be a link between both in recent studies. I have been on Metformin to aid in the insulin management for 5 or 6 years now. This meant changing my diet and eating 6 small meals throughout the day (no biggie). Unfortunately, the Metformin didn't regulate my periods (it does for some women), and I'm not one for BC, so I opted for progesterone in oil shots once every 3 months to bring on periods if one didn't come naturally. This was to keep my lining shedding and healthy.
My DH and I are TTC now, and I'm on my second cycle with Letrozole (Femara) and an ovulation trigger shot (Ovidrel). We'll see if it takes this time...both my sister and my aunt have PCOS and they each had two children, so I'm staying positive.
Honestly though, like MS, everyone has their own path. You'll find what works best for you, especially with whatever treatment you may already be on for the MS. My best friend has MS and is also TTC. I know it can be tricky with timing and medication, so wishing you the best on your journey!
Hi @jennnbunnny! In regards to BC - I was on it for 5 years starting at 18 to regulate my periods. I personally do not like what it does to my body (constant bloating, swelling, feeling lethargic and fatigued), let along my rollercoaster mood swings. So, at 23 I decided to go natural and lay off the BC.
The Progestrone in oil shots are in place of having to be on BC. My doctors have suggested that to keep a healthy lining, you should shed at least 4 times a year. So to do so, every 3 months (if I haven't had a period naturally), I will do a Progesterone in oil shot which is administered by just pinching an inch just above the behind. My Progesterone level spikes, and then drops drastically within 3-4 days and BOOM. Period time.
My friend used to be on Tysabri, but came off of it when she started TTC. Now she's on the Copaxone 3x a week, and just had her first IUI. She's remained on the Copaxone through all the trying since she was having some flare ups. We'll see how it goes, she's currently in her TWW! She's hoping to return to Tysabri after she has a baby, but she's also heard that sometimes pregnancy can help reduce the flare ups in some women with MS, so who knows!
