Sharp quick pains, down there...

Has anyone experienced very brief like second long but sharp pain down there? It started over night and I would wake up with them. I've had them a few times today too while working. The nurse's answer from my doctor's office didn't make me feel better, she wants me to start watching for abnormal stuff like blood...
Is this maybe round ligament pain?

  • When are you due? Im due 11/8 and have them too. Not so bad that I need meds or to sit down but enough to stop and say "oooh i felt that!"

I had it this morning and I have an SCH (subchorionic hemorrhage). I had another bleed out last Sunday and now pain down there today. I always seem to have lower abdominal pain on my left side- closer to my cervix, but it was a different sensation today. Should I be concerned and call my doctor?

I'm due 11/20. I've been having a lot of different pains throughout this pregnancy but this one is new. It's not bad but it's but a sudden sharp pain and it's kind of scary.
  • I got them before I was pregnant and they have actually gotten better since we got pregnant..I still get them but not bad or anything like that
  • I had the same thing a few weeks ago and asked the board here.  The general consensus was lightning crotch, which my bf thinks is the best name for any medical condition that he's ever heard and he spent months in a hospital.

  • This sounds like lightning crotch. Bump old hats amiright? It is a thing google it.

This. But it seems a little early for the lightning crotch.

Also OP, you can say vagina. We are all adults here (for the most part).
  • I've been having this pain a lot… but I've been having all kinds of weird sensations… stretching, cramping, dull pains, sharp pains. Just had my 12 week scan today and everything looks great so I think it's just "growing pains". Little guy was rolling everywhere so I think he/she needs space!!

From everything I looked up it did seem very early for it.  I called my ob's office the Monday after I began experiencing those pains and talked to them about it.  They said if there weren't other issues such as bleeding then they would just check that everything is alright at my next scheduled appointment.

I had some crazy sharp pains yesterday. They were off and on for about 40 minutes. I called the dr office and she said as long as there isn't any bleeding or severe cramping then I was alright. She said it was likely stretching of the muscles, just things be shifted around in general and could have also been gas. It finally went away. But I do have round ligament pain any time I lay down or sit up too fast. Especially on the right side. I have never heard of lightning crotch, but I'm going to look that up right now.

So this a term I've never heard but definitely have been feeling. Yesterday I wanted to rip my insides out. I'm 14 weeks but all is normal so far. Can't believe this is a term people used. Lol. But it's exactly how it feels.

I've had this on and off the entire pregnancy so far. Never thought to ask my dr about this. It's uterine stretching.
  • It might be that you are dehydrated. That means such different things during pregnancy...Remember to get more water if it's got, you worked out, etc.
Same happened to me and sure enough I think it was because I shorted myself a glass or two of h2o

    Thank you everyone
  • I get it, so did my mum, who giggled and delightedly welcomed me to the world of "fanny stabbing" haha. It's a bloody pain
  • Totally Lightning crotch. Fun isn't it ;)
  • I thought it sounded like lightning crotch too. I've had this pain on and off the last two weeks, very uncomfortable.

But at least it's fun to say lightning crotch. :). :). :)
  • Ya it's probably just your uterine stretching, but do watch for blood. I had the same thing and then ended up having a lot of blood which turned out to be a small rip in my placenta. It heals itself and baby is fine just very scary when it happens. If you have bright red blood call your doctor right away and don't panic! Odds are everything is fine!
  • Also recently heard them dubbed "Cooter Shooters"

This! Drink water always. It makes most of my aches and pains go away. :)
