I just took a bath with Epsom salt and Lavender oil. Never occurred to me it could be a problem. But I've been doing it for the past 32 weeks and baby is good.
I've been using ginger essential oil for morning sickness, massage blend for anxiety & stress, & diffusing lemon to uplift the mood!! I'm getting lavender when the women I buy them from gets them in! I get Doterra oils, I just had to look & ask around for someone who sold them.
You should research all essential oils before using them during pregnancy. Most are safe but there are a handful you should avoid...sage and wintergreen I know of for certain, and there's some disparity on whether or not lavender oil is safe (my OB told me to avoid it, but I know plenty of people who have used it with no problems, and my internet research was inconclusive). Epsom salt is 100% okay and AMAZING for your aches and pains. I buy a brand that is epsom salt + chamomile, and it is heavenly.
I use grapefruit, lemon, and cypress oils for swelling. It is pretty effective, and those are safe for pregnancy. Not all oils are safe though, so make sure you research before buying.
Some eo are safe during pregnancy and some are not! Ask a professional. Do your research. Peppermint oil has been known to cause seizures and others can cause early labor etc.
Please use oils wisely. They are wonderful I use some myself but am very cautiouse with my little. Some things suggest only using child doses of the safe eo's while pregnant etc.
I use a little lemon in my water. It helps with the swelling. Also just lots and lots of water a gallon a day. And getting those feet up above your rear. Is a huge help. Along with compreasion socks.(Look at Walmart in the diabetic sock section by pharmacy.)
I've been soaking in Epsom salt baths for months! And all essential oils are totally safe.
Actually NOT all essential oils are safe! But a quick look around on the Internet can let you know what is and isn't. My husband actually wears an essential oil fragrance that contains pennyroyal, which is very much not safe for pregnant women to use, so he put it away as soon as we found out I was expecting. Many are safe, just do your research
