Lice at daycare...freaking out

so I picked up my 9 week old at daycare and they had confirmed life in the infant room! I honestly had NEVER heard of lice in babies... I have gone a bit excessive washing everything cloth that was at the daycare today and bathed my DD when she got home and myself. What the heck do I do if my LO gets lice?!? So gross!

  • Omg! How does that even happen in the infant room?! I have no tips, but I wanted to comment and say - wtf! I'd be pretty angry!

  • My oldest got it and she has TONS of hair. I couldn't get rid of it! I treated her so much I damaged her hair and had to cut it. The thing that finally worked believe it or not was Vaseline. If you LO gets it, try that. The oil suffocates them and I swear it worked wonders. I had even taken her to pediatrician and it worked better than the prescription they gave her. I hope you guys don't get it :)

Just writing this comment made me itchy ! :))

Yuck! Wash everything you are worried about with hot water, stuffed animals can be bagged in garbage bags and left in the sun for a few days. Vaccum consistently! Lice cannot live off a host for longer than 24 hours. Vaseline, olive oil, and witch hazel work. Ask your pediatrician before administering anything to baby though. Good luck!

@klcarr19 You might also want to look for another daycare if this is a reoccurring event. That's pretty disturbing to me. I've never heard of infants having lice.
  • The teacher seemed to be just as concerned as we were with this confirmation. She said she had seen it once before. My husband is going to take her in the morning and ask how they cleaned the room. If he has any questions at all he is bringing her home with him.
