foley balloon induction

So tomorrow night I will be induced if baby doesn't come on her own due to elevated blood pressure. Im 40 weeks and 4 days.

I will be induced using the foley balloon. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Re: foley balloon induction

  • I just had this done about 10 hours ago. It wasn't a comfortable process but it wasn't terrible either. It took about 1.5 hours for me. They insert the Foley bulb and it was inflated using water. And about every hour they'd come and tug on it a little bit to see how it's going. Once you're 3-4 cm they take it out and for me that's when they started pitocin

  • Thanks for the input.
  • Mine was put in at 2cm and it just felt like an extra uncomfortable cervix check to me. It fell out like 5-10 minutes later in between 3&4cm! I don't think it normally happens that fast, but idk. Good luck!
  • Thanks! Hope I have your luck!

I just had mine last night- I was at 2 cm and it took about 1.5 hours to get to 4. The time depends on how soft your cervix is to start. For me it did get real crampy right before I lost it (and it felt like a christmas miracle when it came out) but I am a pansy. They started my pitocin early this morning.

I had it before my induction 2 weeks ago! After 4 rounds of cervidil (48 hours!), they inserted the foley bulb when I was a pitiful 1cm, and 1-2 hours later I was 4cm and sent to L&D! I felt no pain, but was getting fentanyl for back labor and contractions at the time... The foley bulb worked like magic for me! Good luck to you!!
