A yearly keepsake for a boy.

If i had a girl i was planning to get her a charm bracelet and add a charm every year, i had a boy and I'd still like to do something special for him that he can keep which i plan to add to yearly but i'm absolutely stumped for ideas!
Does anyone know anything that might be nice?

A collectable silver dollar?  My parents bought lo a birth year one, with her name engraved on it.  You can get specific 'baby feet' ones here, so that's her first.  I'll likely get one for her each year too, though maybe not all engraved.
