Question for those who have had their water break naturally

I've heard/read many women mention they heard a pop before water breaking. I'm curious if this is literally something you and people around you can actually hear. Or, is it more a a forceful pop internally, you feel like you can hear it loudly (like when you pop your jaw). Sorry if my question sounds confusing - words are hard right now. Lol

  • I would say it's more like an internal pop. You feel it and then there's water. :)

  • It's an internal "pop". It feels like it's loud, so I thought I heard it but my husband sitting next to me didn't. Such a weird/cool feeling. Since I'm getting a c section with this kid, I'm kinda bummed I won't feel that pop.

My water broke both times with my son and daughter, I didn't hear a pop, woke up in bed with it leaking out with my daughter, and walking back to the living room after I peed with my son lol I hope the same thing happens this time :)
  • @mrsmoxie You could still feel that pop! :) maybe the baby will come before his/her scheduled c section. I also have a scheduled c section and I'm hoping a go I week or so before. Lol
  • I was in the bath tub when my water broke with my first and I didn't hear anything but felt an internal snap, almost like a rubber band had snapped the bottom of my stomach area and then a huge gush of clear fluid. I sat there for a second confused and in shock, the water had sort of a slimy feel to it and then active labor contractions started pretty intently right after that and didn't let up.
  • I didn't hear or feel a pop. But mine was more of a trickle with little gushes.. It didn't fully break, so maybe that's why.

  • I felt like I heard a pop but as others said it could have been more of a feeling. Took a bath stood up to get out and Pop water broke and streamed out. Contractions started immediately for me 2.5 weeks early with my first.

I didn't hear or feel anything and I actually have no idea when my water broke, but it was after I was in transitional labor. I was already in a delivery room, so at least there was no fluid to clean up at home or in the car.

I didn't hear anything and I don't think there is a noise to hear. I agree it's more of something you feel internally. I was walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night and "felt" a pop on the inside and mine was a total movie gush. The worst part is the constant squishing and little gushes afterward. It's not like the water comes out all at once, it continues to gush and squish until delivery when you move or walk around. I kinda want to miss that this time because it just makes traveling to the hospital, etc. constantly wet, lol.

  • I never heard a pop. I went to the bathroom and peed and then my body told me not to move so I didn't and then my water broke which I thought I may have accidentally involuntarily peed. So I got up and a few seconds later some more came out. Mine wasn't a one time gush or a trickle. It was like I was giving a pee on myself every 5-10seconds.
