MFM ultrasound

I have my 20 week ultrasound Monday but it's 45 mins away at a maternal fetal medicine place. Last time I had my daughter I just went to a dinky place nearby and had my 20 week. I was looking up maternal fetal medicine and it's talking about high-risk pregnancy and using 3d and 4d ultrasounds. I'm confused because I was never told that I'm high risk. I will tell you that I am 34 and maybe my age has something to do with it??? I also lost the twin very early on and maybe that has something to do with it?? Is it normal to go to a mfm place? I don't have to worry right? Last couple checkups baby's heartbeat was great and Dr was happy with everything. I'm very excited to see my baby again and just hope all goes well.

I got both my NT u/s and scheduled my anatomy scan with a MFM practice. They just have better tech than the imaging center that my OB uses.

I'm not high risk but I went to a MFM place with both my boys and will go again with this baby. Like the previous poster said, my MFM place has better equipment, etc than my reg OB. Their place is awesome.

Hi. I had my anatomy scan last week at 18 weeks. This is the ultrasound where they measure absolutely every body part. Both the tech and doctor said everything measured right on track however they scheduled me a week later(today) for another ultrasound with maternal fetal medicine specialist bc i am 36. There was no other reason other than my age that my ob had this done. Oh, i also needed another ultrasound sound bc our lil,boy would not,cooperate and flip over for them to measure his spine and they have to get all the measurements. Right after the mfm specialiat reviewed the reaults with us and again everything looked great. Will you be 3t when you deliver this lil one? My guess,is,ut is bc of,your age like us. Don't think you have anything to worry about if there have been no other issues so far. We got to see our lil one,again who this time did a couple flips!! The mfm doc,is just more qualified in readimg ultrasoumds and identifying any potential issues. Think you are absolutely fime mama! Keep us posted . hope yours is for the same reason(my guess,is,it is) and,you have a more qualified doc reviewing,your ultrasound! My ob even said being just at the age considered high risk can,be considered a good thing nc they do some,more advanced testing. Hope this helps you to relax,some and , worry less! Keep us posted.

I actually have an appointment with MFM tomorrow. They saw a spot in our babies heart (which they said is Very common) but I've been super nervous. I read online that it is a soft marker for Down syndrome. But my quad screening and everything else in ultrasound came back normal. Hopefully they tell us our babies healthy! Sounds like a routine ultrasound for you good luck!
