Introduction (loss and child mentioned)

Hello everyone!

I've been lurking here for a little bit, and wanted to introduce myself.  I'm 38 and TTC my second- our daughter is 15 months old.  I had a miscarriage prior to getting pregnant with her.  

We've been trying for about 6 months, though I didn't start using OPKs until 3 months ago and only starting temping this cycle.  I'm currently using the Clearblue Advanced OPK (first cycle with those- I used the non-digital test previously but decided to switch because the advanced digital is what I used when I got pregnant with our daughter).  I'm on day 3 of flashing smileys and no temp spike yet.  I'm optimistic, but find that waiting for that face to turn from flashing to solid starts to wear thin after 2 days (I know, I'm impatient.).  I think it's just that it's different than when we conceived our daughter- I went from no smiley at all to peak.  Does anyone else have a similar experience?  Or advice?

Welcome! I also use the advanced clearblue OPKs and often have long stretches of flashing smiley faces before I get the solid one. I don't know why it would be different from before but our bodies do change as we get older, plus your hormones might be different after your first pregnancy? Either way, mine always do turn to solid but sometimes it takes awhile. It really pushes you to embrace being a more patient person, which has always been really tough for me. Just hang in there!

Thanks for your response, jilligan14!  It's helpful to know that it's not unusual, and that I just need to calm down.  I feel like the directions make it seem like you get 2 days of high, and then 2 days of peak.  But, in thinking about it, women can't possibly all be the same in that way.  I think you're probably right about my hormones being different post-baby.  Anyway, thanks again for the feedback!

Welcome!!  No advice on the OPKs, I always use the non-digital kind.  Good luck!!!

Welcome and good luck!  I use the same Clear Blue Monitor-- it is different every month.  I actually called the hotline and they said that it is perfectly common to have more than 2 days of flashing smiley faces.  One month I didn't even get the flashing smiley-- it went from low fertility day and the next day it was the solid smiley face.  Good luck with everything!!!

I once had 12 days of the flashy smiley face, which was so annoying and frustrating. And I never O'd that cycle either! I think the box just shows 2 days of each as an example of how it could look, but yes, everyone is different. Good luck!

Hi and welcome!  I am a wondfo user (and last cycle had two sets of pos OPKs), so I can't offer any advice but am happy to shake my head in sympathy over confusing OPKs.
