Shower Dates

Hey friends!
I am due Oct. 11. Baby's two grandma's are hosting my husband and I a shower. We are so grateful and they have even asked us when we would like to have it!  Here's the thing...  the summer is sooooo busy but I really don't want to be TOO pregnant and have the shower in September.  I am aiming for August 30 - so I would be 34 weeks.  I am also a teacher and would rather have the shower in the summer so I can have a bit of time to nest while I have time off.

What do you guys think?  Are you having showers?  Do you have a date?  If so, how many weeks will you be?

I'm due oct 15th and my mother plans for the end of August, start of September for mine. She won't do one in the summer cause a lot of friends and family will be on vacation, and gone away. With my son I was due sept 24th, my mother had one in June before everyone went on vacation !

I'm due October 5th and my shower will be on July 18th. I was shooting for a week later but that didn't work for the host, and since she's the one planning/paying, I'm happy to concede! I wanted it in August originally, but I will be traveling for conferences and my host will be on vacation. I'm happy with the date - it's a little early, but I will have plenty of time to return stuff and nest!

I'm due October 5th and my shower date has been tentatively set for August 22nd.

I'm due Oct 27 but will deliver my twins by Oct 13. My shower will be July 25. The hostess also has twin boys & strongly recommended to have the shower sooner, rather than later, in case I'm on bedrest or just generally not feeling social in the last couple months.
Personally, I would try to have your shower sooner than 34 weeks. It just wouldn't give you a ton of time to nest & prepare, in the event you deliver early.

I am also a teacher. I am due Oct 31 and shower is August 1. I wanted to do before school and that date was the only one that worked for my mom, my sisters (hosting), and I. After speaking with friends though, I think early (but not too early) can be good. Not only do I want to be able to set up before school starts, but it will also help with registry completion. The trick (I've heard) is to change your due date right after the shower so they'll send your completion coupon in time.

I'm due October 4th. We are having two showers because my family lives on the east coast and we live in the midwest. Shower 1 (east coast) is July 18th (before travel gets too difficult) and Midwest is August 15th!

I'm due Oct. 15 and will have my shower in July or the first weekend of August. It's a little earlier than I would've normally planned but I have to fly and was planning on stopping flying in early/mid August (personal preference). I'll also have plenty of time to get anything that isn't shipped to my house home and dealt with.

I'm hoping to have my work shower in late June or early July - having twins so don't know if I'll end up on bed rest or what! I'd rather do it early also so that I can get the nursery set up before I get too big and uncomfortable. Have not made plans for a family and friends shower yet.

I'm due October 30th. My shower is going to be one of the first weekends of September. Just waiting to hear from my sister in a different state what days she can get off from work.

I was due Oct 16th with my first, my shower was on Sept 1st.

I'm due Oct. 2. Like a previous poster I am having 2 showers. One I have to fly to so that one will be July 12 (28 weeks). The other is driving distance but still a 4 hour drive, so we're leaning towards August 8th (32 weeks). September is basically out of the question in my mind as I want to stay closer to home and have time to set up the nursery. FWIW, my sister had a baby last Nov. 13, and her shower was around two months beforehand even though it was 20 minutes away from her. It just was the best available time for me, my mom, and my sister. Do what works best for you and the people who are throwing you the shower!

My showers will be at the end of this month, and then mid June. I'm 2500 miles away from family, and that's the only time I can travel back to my family and friends. Whenever you want, as long as it works with your host, you can have it.

I am due October 8, and my shower is June 27. I will be 27 wks. I don't live in my hometown anymore and my family is wanting to host the shower for when I am in town this summer for the 4 of July. Little early, but it'll be nice to have extra time to get stuff ready/buy extra things we won't receive at the shower!

I'm due October 1st and mine is July 18th too!!

I am due October 3rd and was told my shower date is August 22nd so I will be 34 weeks along. I wasn't picky with the date. My sister, mother, and my husbands step mom are all hosting it together and they wanted to make sure my sister in laws could be there as well. All I asked was that it wouldn't be after 37 weeks. They had enough schedules to coordinate and that was the date that worked best for them so I am just going with it

I'm not sure if I'll have a shower (or sprinkle) for this one, but with DS, I had mine at 35 weeks.  It was plenty of time to get things settled (but he was also 10 days late).  The nursery decor and furniture was in place (we bought it ourselves), so the shower was just filling in the little stuff, swing, bouncer, etc.

I'm due Oct 6th and having a mail shower July 25 so I'll be 29 weeks. But I'm an odd case, though, and have to do it via post office.
But if agree with pp and say I'd rather do it either than later. Gives you time to nest and get anything you still need before you need to rest up.

I'm due 10/05 & my shower date is supposed to be on 8/29. I want to have it before Sept but with school starting in our area around 8/13th, I worried about people having to spend a lot of money on their kids back to school stuff so I don't want to add to the burden. The shower will be a few weeks after school starts but before everyone goes out of town for Labor Day weekend. ??? 1 of my girlfriends wants to throw me a small shower for our neighborhood friends & she's wanting to do it in July. I felt like that was too early. ??? Who knows!

I'm due 10/8 with twins so I won't deliver any later than 9/24. My out of town shower will be June 20th and my in town shower will be in July. Hostesses picked the dates and I'm perfectly fine with them being a little early!

Is it bad that I really don't want a shower? Both my MIL and friend asked me if I wanted a shower that they would host and keep asking me but I really don't want one. My work is already throwing me one and I don't have a say in that one. I think if I just keep saying idk that eventually it'll get too late to have one

I'm a bit of a special case. I'll end up having 3 showers. Both me and my SO are military. The first 2 showers will be in early July since we have time off to travel. One with his family and one with mine. Then in August will be one where we are stationed with friends and co-workers. I know mine are early but it helps with getting everything put together and settled before baby comes. Also, allows plenty of time to get anything else we need.

Thanks everyone!  It sounds like anytime works!  I think my Mom and MIL have decided on August 9 now, which will give me the rest of August to nest and settle before back to school in September!

I'm prolly not having a shower. We already have a boy so all we really need (besides a big rocking chair) are diapers... and maybe a swing.

We're also in the process of moving so I don't think anyone here will throw me a shower since I'm leaving, and people won't know me where I'm going.

I think the most important thing about planning your shower is making sure it will work out best for you! You don't need extra stress trying to squeeze it into a time period others think you should have it. I'm due October 19th and I'm having my shower August 1st. I have a special situation though... my twin sister is also pregnant and she's due 5 weeks ahead of me on September 13th... so we wanted to have a shower together and this is the date we were able to work out. It's going to be at her home since she'll be just 5 weeks out from her due date... I'll be 28 weeks and 5 days! Good luck to you on your planning!
