Are any other moms dealing with this?? How are you coping with the news?
That sounds rather dramatic. Previas are very common. In most cases, you will grow it out of the way. If you don't, then you have a c-section.
I'm at 27 weeks now and still a complete previa. I can't do a thing about it. Do I want to have a c-section? No. Do I have any choice? Nope. So I'm just going to open my mind the possibility that I may have to have one, and when the time comes and my doctor let's me know which direction we're going, I'm prepared.
Did not intend to sound dramatic but we found out after a bleed and then had a bleed the following day. It was frightening. I have a complete previa and I'm 18 wks
I'm sure that was scary. Seeing blood anytime during pregnancy will stop your heart! I hope you don't experience any more bleeding and that yours grows out of the way so LO can come out the old fashioned way!
I was complete previa at the beginning of my pregnancy but my dr prescribed me prometrium and I am now low previa at 26w and 5d . It's scary but maybe ask your doctor about prometrium . It's done wonders for me
I found out very early, and my doctor put me on pelvic rest. I was pretty upset especially since we had our babymoon coming up. But the doctors assured me that it was not something to worry too much about because a good majority of the time it moves up naturally, and for me that was the case we found out last week that it had moved to the correct position and we are good to go! So don't let it stress you out too much.
I just found out yesterday I have previa as well. I'm only 19 weeks so am hoping that as things grow and move that the placenta will move away from the cervix. My OB put me on pelvic rest and said no high impact activities. It's a bit of a bummer since I'm hoping to deliver vaginally, but I have a good feeling it will all work out as the pregnancy progresses. Don't stress!
Did anyone else bleed everyday with the previa? My doctor isn't overly worried yet but she is starting to be concerned with the number of days I've had bleeding since the previa was discovered. I've bled 10 out the 12 days since we found the previa...
Not yet because I am at a higher risk for blood clots. They had to take me off my prescription blood thinners with all the bleeding with the previa....
People keep saying that Placenta Previa is "very common". I don't think 10% in 2nd trimester is very common! Plus only 30% of that 10% remain low by time of delivery... Those are low odds to me! I appreciate the down play of its severity by the posters above, but let's get real! Few people deal with this in 2nd trimester and fewer people deal with this at delivery. However, it's scary nonetheless and it's nice to have a forum with worldwide reach to find more people in the same boat than the needle on the haystack that deal with this issue!
I did bleed at 20 weeks, the night before my ultrasound. It was so scary for me, because I've experienced a miscarriage, I'm an older mom-to-be, and it's just plain scary! My doctor was on call at the hospital and he sent me home after the bleeding subsided and suspected Placenta Previa. When I had my ultrasound the next day, his suspicions were confirmed. I have Partial Placeta Previa and he's placed me on pelvic rest, but he said I could still exercise and stay active. I'm scared to workout with intensity that I did before this happened and no sex is a bummer. However, it's a small price to pay to keep baby safe and sound! I'm almost 23 weeks and hopeful that this works itself out naturally. My next ultrasound is at 30 weeks.
I started bleeding at 13 weeks into my pregnancy with twins and thought I was miscarrying since it was so severe. It did lessen and I was sent home from the emergency room without having to be admitted but I continued bleeding for a good month afterwards. Occasionally it seemed like it was tapering off but then it picked up again. I was put on pelvic rest and by 18 weeks the previa had moved away on its own and I'm no longer on restrictions. I never had severe bleeding after the initial bleed but it was like a moderate to heavy period flow for most of that month. Don't panic it can get better. If mine can grow out of the way despite the extra crowding of twins, yours can too :-) I'm now at 27w3d and all is well and normal. As hard as it is, try to relax.
Found out at my 20 weeks appointment that I had placenta previa. My door didn't put me on any restrictions and to call her if any bleeding occurs. I started to bleed bright red a week later and my doctor put me on pelvic rest, no exercise, walking for long periods of time. Basically "pre"- best rest. I went in for my 24 weeks today and my placenta is no longer near my cervix! So no more restrictions. Try to take it easy and hang in there!
