TTC After a Loss

5wks post MC... HCG level not at zero

Hello ladies, asking for some personal experiences with HCG returning to zero. I learned of my MMC on April 1st at 10wks/5days and was administered two doses of cytotec on April 3rd.
April 1 - HCG 13.5k
April 3rd - HCG 8.5k
April 6 - HCG 5k
April 13 - HCG 366
April 22 - HCG 56
April 29 - HCG 36
May 6 - HCG 28
They keep telling me that it can take 4-6 weeks but I'm not sure if the cytotec truly caused complete MC. There was substantial bleeding and a lot if pain almost immediately but my largest clots weren't passed until almost 2 weeks after taking the pills. Any others that can share how long your levels were in double digits until you finally hit zero??

Re: 5wks post MC... HCG level not at zero

  • I'm getting mine tested on Monday. I took Cytotec on April 15th and as of last Tuesday I still had a faintly positive hpt, so I'm guessing my hcg was right around 25 then. I'll know more after the lab test and will post an update.

  • i had a natural MC exactly 5 weeks ago today and my AF arrived today. Sorry this doesn't quite relate to your situation but i wanted to just say it seemed like forever for my AF to arrive.

I'm so sorry you're concerned. I agree with @NovemberBaby2 - each stage of the process feels like forever, even though I'm still waiting for my HCG levels to drop myself!

I had one round of cytotec administered on April 29th and passed most of the tissue in a few days. In 2 days it'll have been two weeks since, and my levels were at 18,000 when we last measured. I imagine the number drops faster once you pass all the tissue? @rachajoy09 it seems like your levels have been dropping much faster than me :)

  • @rachajoy09 I just got the results from the blood test I took on Monday. Hcg is at 26. Today is exactly 4 weeks since I first took Cytotec.

  • I had more blood drawn today, and hcg is at 9 (down from 26 a week ago). Have your levels come down to 0 @rachajoy09 ?

  • I had what I thought was a full natural miscarriage but the u/s showed orherwise. Has your dr performed one? My dr does right away because of risk of infection. The waiting is awful. It took 45 days for AF to show after I ended up needing a d&c.
  • @linnea625 Sorry for late reply! Just had another blood draw on Wednesday, May 20 and HCG was at 9 :| Thankfully AF arrived the week before last or I would be completely losing my mind. Hopefully next week for both of us!
@lilp2015 I've had 2 U/S early on after MC and was considering asking for another but once I got AF, Dr. said whatever is left should hopefully detach on its own.
