Accepting a response?

What does it mean when the bump sends a notification saying that someone 'accepted your answer?' How do you accept someone's answer? Does that mean the other answers were unacceptable? lol I'm perplexed... but it is funny. How do I start accepting other people's answers? Hmmm... *scratching head*

I've seen this too, and I have no idea. I've had one of my comments be accepted as an answer, and I was like - whaa? :-/

So glad I'm not alone! And I don't recognize the name of the user who 'accepted' my answer...For that matter, I don't even know which answer was accepted!  )

I have never seen then but then I noticed sometimes threads say. "Answered" and I am confused!

The 'Answered' threads are annoying, cause instead of jumping straight to the comments that I haven't read, it takes me to the 'answer' and then I have to scroll down to the newer posts. First world problems
