Savannah has acid reflux...

At least that's what the peditrician thinks.  My little angel has turned into a very unhappy baby, I was beginning to question my mothering skills.  Anyone else go through this?

Re: Savannah has acid reflux...

  • Addy had reflux and was on Zantac until just before she turned 7 months.  She was a "silent refluxer" she hardly ever spit up, but was very uncomfortable.  You could hear it go up and down when you burped her, she'd swallow again.  The Zantac really helped with the irritation.  She would still reflux, but the Zantac decreased the acidity, so it didn't bother her as much.  We also held her upright for 30 minutes after every bottle and she slept on an incline.  We haven't noticed her bothered by it since until I gave her food with pineapple in it.  Too much acidity for her!  I hope you are able to get it under control and she feels better soon!

  • Connor had silent reflux also.  He would scream when we laid him down on his back.  We started giving him zantac and it was really hard to get him to take it, so we switched to axid and it helped a lot.  We also had him sleep on an incline positioner until 2 months.

No reason to question your mothering skills, I think its fairly common and easily treatable.  You are a very good mother for noticing how unhappy she is and for taking ehr to the dr.
