Pull Out Babies and Gender

I've been reading a little but about the pull out method being used for gender swaying and since I'm currently pregnant with a pull out baby I thought a little poll would be fun. My curiousity is torturing me!

So if you got pregnant while using the pull out method, which did you end up having?

So, honestly out of curiosity, why would people use this as a method to sway sex of their child if the ultimate goal of this method is not to conceive in the first place?

Lol that's what I thought! My H and I have done that method for 10 years but I never thought of calling my baby a "pull out baby"!!! Or it having something to do with swaying the gender! So weird...

We had a boy last time and this time I will know in 2 weeks what the sex is

Yeh that thought crossed my mind too. We weren't trying but if we were and I was gender swaying I wouldn't choose this as my swaying method. Just something I ran across in an article and it made me curious.

This was my first time hearing about it too. I guess it has something to do with the lower sperm count swaying girl?

So men that pull out have low sperm count? Lol I'm so confused!!! We avoided getting pregnant for 9 years. My H has 6 kids and it only took once for him to not pull out to get me pregnant. That man has some serious swimmers! I'm totes googling this!

There's also a theory that if you have sex before you ovulated, it'll be a girl. If you have sex while you're ovulating it'll be a boy. People use that for gender swaying too. The theory is that female sperm swim faster and live longer in the Fallopian tubes, male sperm are slower....who knows? I don't care enough to try to sway it, but I think it's interesting.

I don't know if people use it as a way of getting pregnant but I know a Ton of people who get pregnant using this method. My dad always told us that pulling out isn't a form of birth control just look at my brother lol

No I think what I read said that precum (which can be released with the pull out method) has a lower sperm count and since X sperm live longer, chances of girl are higher. Not sure how valid any of this is just curious to see what the results are.

This logic still makes absolutely no sense.
First off all the speed difference between X and Y containing sperm is due the difference in mass between the 2. As a result the difference in speed is minimal and negligible. In addition the ejaculating of millions sperm helps propell them all through the fallopian tubes, as a result millions of sperm including female all arrive at approximately the same time.
Second of all even though you may find sperm up to 5 days after intercourse, after 48 hours the vast majority will no longer have the energy reserve needed to penatrate the egg.
Obviously using the pull out method will have absolutely no effect on the sex of your child.

The shettles method!! I think it involves diet as well which in theory changes the PH of your vagina. The theory is that a more acidic enviornment is favorable to a girl and a more neutral enviornment favors boy. I've seen women actually testing their ph... I sort of did did this in that I was taking opk which was positive on Wednesday but hubs wasn't home so we had "relations" on Thursday? Lol would that be after ovulation? I didn't change my diet though. I think I may have eaten a banana? Would that change the ph? Lol I'll let you know if I have the boy that this method predicts!

I read a whole book about the shettles method!  I really wanted a girl and then we had some trouble and I decided it wasn't worth the stress.  This method actually worked for a friend of mine (who knows if the actual method had anything to do with at all, or if it was just pure chance!).  She wanted a girl and followed the rules in the book and conceived a girl.  There is temping and charting and food choices and sex timing and all that jazz involved.  I have heard or read (not sure!) that if a man ejaculates while pulling out, the chances of conceiving a girl are higher.  Timing ovulation and having a lot of sex up until 2 days before ovulation increases your chances of having a girl.  Having sex one time, right before or during ovulation increases chances of having a boy.  

There are a LOT of theories out there...including how to guess the sex of your baby.  I believe it is all chance.  My doctor told me the more children you have of the same sex, the higher your chances are of having a baby of the same sex.  He has 5 boys!  I would love to have a girl but all I really want is a healthy full term baby!  :-)

This thread is seriously cracking me up! I don't know how I missed it before… I guess we can settle it after everybody has their children and they can tell us what method they use and what the sex of their baby was. LOL! I'm pretty sure that you have a fairly even chance of either.

I'll take either a boy or a girl, as long as it is a healthy baby! I read somewhere that up to 1% of babies are intersex formerly known as hermaphrodites. This is freaking the crap out of me and all I care about is that the baby is either a boy or a girl… Not both!

But this is a very interesting and entertaining thread!

The true science behind sex selection is that you have 50% chance either way at a boy or a girl. Body pH (which would be accomplished by eating more than a banana...I mean seriously), withdrawal, or any other hocus pocus method you've read about will not tip the scales for a particular sex.
