I am 35 weeks pregnant. My husband and I have talked about and decided to change the name of our daughter. We made it final yesterday and started telling people. Do you think that I,am being unfair to my family and friends for changing the name we have had picked since day one, or do you think that I have every right to change it. We changed it from Alexis to Addilynn. I feel like Alexis sounds strange coming out of my mouth when referring to my daughter, but Addilynn just rolls of my tongue without hesitation. Also I think Addilynn is a name she could respectfully grow old with, verses Alexis, which sounds young and child like. Don't get me wrong, I love the name Alexis.. but I guess it's just not for me!

of course you can change it.  It's not official until it's on the birth certificate. Honestly though, I would just tell everyone you're reconsidering the name and then they can know the final name once baby is born.

This is one of the reasons nobody gets to know the names we have chosen until the baby is in this world.  My mind can always change, and I also don't want to hear people's opinions.

Of course you can change it! I keep telling everyone we have decided on Leo unless he comes out and looks nothing like a Leo then we will change it. I once read an article about a mom that changed her daughters name after she was a year old because she just didn't feel like she fit with the name she gave her at birth. Just do whatever makes you happy! Your baby, your decision.

Addilynn is very cute you can call her addie when she's little as a Nick name. So you cab make it cute and young sounding as well as mature when she's older.

Go for it! I am a true believer in going with your instinct or, gut feeling shall I say! Nothing has been set in stone just yet and you shouldn't worry about disappointing anyone. I am sure your family will support your decision either way. Besides, when she comes they will love her no matter what name you choose! We went with our gut feelings for our last 3 pregnancies, and we knew they were right once we saw their little faces. Once you see her, you will ultimately go with what you feel suits her.

Heck yes you can change it! Do what you feel is right! I changed my dogs name after having him for 2 weeks :o3

As far as I'm concerned, no name is "final" until it's on a birth certificate - until then, it's just what you PLAN on naming your child (and plans can change). Confused as to why you think that this would be "unfair" to your friends and family but if anyone gives you grief about it, just roll your eyes and walk away - you guys decided that you liked another name better, that should be the end of the story.
