Hey ladies!!
I'm new to this board. So I'd like to introduce myself. Although, like everyone else, I hope to be joining a birth month board soon.

My husband and I have been trying very hard to conceive our second child for a year now. We experienced a loss in December that seriously broke my heart and spirit. After the loss we decided to invite some scientific assistance. I started taking Metformin to control PCOS, but still, after 4 cycles, I wasn't pregnant. This last cycle we decided to try Clomid.
I just found out from my doctor that the progesterone test shows that I did ovulate!! Such a huge weight is off my shoulders, just knowing that my body responded well to the Clomid. I'm so nervous and excited to take a pregnancy test, but terrified of false negatives. So I will keep waiting.
Thanks for letting me share!
Re: Intro and Excitement!

Clomid is a serious drug that should only be taken when properly monitored by an RE. You have no business taking it from your OB. Did you and your husband have all necessary testing done? Are you sure Clomid would even help you and the problem isn't your husband?

Thank you for reading tone into a post that wasn't there. I chose to include a gif that is humorous. Clomid is a serious drug with a 6 time limit of use in a lifetime. Providing you with information is beyond supportive. I'm looking out for your health and wellbeing (and potentially that of your unborn children) and you think I'm not being supportive?

I'm surprised you are moving on so quickly without trying again for the full 12 months? I think getting a second opinion from a specialist could benefit you.

You are not the first and will not be the last to come on this site after having taken Clomid unmonitored. I hope you are not one of the people who have a bad side effect, but you have no way of knowing without being monitored.
I'm sure you trust your doctor and she's an amazing OB. But she is doing you a disservice by giving unmonitored clomid. You can always go back to her after you are pregnant, but OBs do not have the expertise to treat infertility. This is proven by her giving you clomid unmonitored.
The ladies here are just trying to help you, so please try not to get defensive and listen to what we have to say. I have followed the ttc journeys of probably 100 women on clomid and I have seen what can happen when it is unmonitored: cysts, ER visits, multiples, thinned uterine lining, overresponse and underresponse.
First, clomid can only be taken 6 times in your life. That is because (although unproven) doctors suspect a link to cancer. Also, if it doesn't work the first 4-5 times, it is probably not going to work. Therefore, it is in your best interest to have your husbands semen checked and your tubes checked first. If those are bad, all the clomid in the world won't get you pregnant.
... To be continued.

October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
I got pregnant and miscarried in September 2009. We could not get pregnant again and it turned out to be he had a low sperm count.
Again, I'm sure you OB is a good OB, but she does not have training to deal with infertility.

Every clomid cycle must be monitored with bloodwork and ultrasounds as follows;
Cycle day 3: bloodwork to double check for pregnancy before starting a drug that is dangerous in pregnancy. Also to check estrogen levels. Ultrasound to check for pre existing cysts which can grow out of control if you take clomid. (I have seen women on here go to the ER for cysts and even lose an ovary)
Midcycle (repeated as needed every 2-3 days): ultrasounds to check how many follicles you have. Too few and the cycke can be adjusted or meds changed next time. Too many and you face high order multiples or a selective abortion in the second trimester. I had 4 follies the first time I took clomid and chose to cancel my iui and not have sex. Do you know who didn't cancel? John and Kate plus 8. Ultrasounds also check for a thinned uterine lining which can be adjusted with meds. Bloodwork also to check estrogen levels.
You need to see a reproductive endocrinologist. Ask your insurance whether your year started over when you had the miscarriage or whether you can go now.
I wish you lots of luck!!
